Good morning Dr.Ludwig! Thank you for this wonderful march. The composer is Gustav Lange, a prussian composer (1830-1889, not to be confused with Gustav Frederik Lange). Gustav Lange created a great number of works, among them the very known Flower Song (in English) which is in reality Edelweiss and Blumenlied (alternately). @@moddie1000 Thank you for your comment. There are 3 who composed the music with this name: Gustav Lange, Anton Pauker (born in Bohemia) and Alfred Pechau. Alfred Pechau is the last, he was inspired by the 2 previous ones. That said, I'm humble, the German repertoire is so vast and often glossed over because of Germany's unfortunate period of the 1930s-40s. Maybe that's why Dr.Ludwig put "unknown composer". In the same time, I'd like Dr.Ludwig to upload pieces by Lange, which are magnificent.

A simple soldier earned 1/3 more than a simple worker, a sergeant even more than double the money of a factory worker, they also had no food costs as the food was provided and of real good quality. Factory worker had at that time a 6 day workig week with 10 working hours per day. The army was at that time a desired employer as also retired soldiers could after their service get easy a job in public services, like post offices, police, etc..

Fact : That building behind the military parade is look like Frankfurt Central Station - Frankfurt/Main but that inspired Siam/Thailand Railway Station (Hua Lamphong is the local name) now is Bangkok Railway Station back in King Chulalongkorn's reign in 1910 and it was completed and opened for use on June 25 1916 during the reign of King Rama VI this Siam station is built in the style of an Italian dome mixed with Renaissance art. It is similar to the Frankfurt train station in Germany because King Rama V of Siam had visited Germany (during the royal visit to Europe)and had many inspirations to develop Siam.

Good morning Dr.Ludwig! Thanks for pinning my comment. However, a doubt remains about the original author of this march. Lange composed the first, it was a polka, a soldier's song, then others took over. After 1945 there was no real composition of German marches, to my knowledge, except in the former East Germany, but there with the agreement of the party and also of the former USSR. I'll see if I can find the sheet music of this march, so that we're in the truth, but in the real truth. As I explained in my comment, given the bad times of 1930 and 1945 and after, the German repertoire had a special fate, which can lead to confusion. The lesson: we have to stay humble and do research, of course, beyond Wikipedia or other information on the internet. I'd like you to put some music by Gustav Lange, the classical, the piano, but not only "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht", other pieces. I wish you a very nice and good new week 😊❤🎼🎵🎶👋👋👋
