Vice needs the support and consider that some people use adblocks so they don't get anything revenue from those views. Independent news media is rare as is honesty in journalism.

VICE please upload your documentaries in one part.
@CynicalMartian11 жыл бұрын
Might have to do with file size. It may be easier to upload 4 high quality chunks of one video rather than have to compress the entire video in one file, which degrades the quality.

Vice, the content is magnificent, but the length of the parts are somewhat short. I think that since this documentary is so important, the videos should be a bit longer, like around 10 mins. I understand it takes a lot of time to edit but the viewers would love longer videos, just to hold us over until more stuff comes out.

All this and ad revenue helps support them so they can even make these kinds of documentaries. I suppose if you sent them a big fat cheque they might consider uploading it in one chunk. But come on, you're getting a free ride, show some appreciation...

It might be for hits but it could also easily be due to attention span of the audience. For example a song is considered long if it goes more then 3 minutes. 7 minute segments are less 'intimidating' and/or perhaps able to hold attention better then a 35 minute video. Like if you see a 400 page book, it might do better as 3 170 page books because its less intimidating.

i think part of it is the fact that someone has to edit what is sometimes hundreds of hours of footage just to bring you a free documentary, and still the complainers when they seek ad revenue.

I agree. I think they do it for psychological reasons, to keep it like a tv channel, keep you comiing back, make you more familiar with them, rather than watching everything in one shot and not coming back. Also makes people more likely to subscribe, so they dont forget to look for the next part. Cynical but effective.

As I live in Finland, I have not been in any kind of checkpoint in my life. I just can't imagine that somebody would check if I have weapons, or some illegal stuff with me in my home city, unless I do something crazy. I understand that the city borders would have some checkpoints in situation like Baghdad has now. I also wonder, would there be any civil war (or whatever it's called in Iraq), if there would not be checkpoints. I thought that city cannot evolve if the transportation is slow but that doesn't seem to be problem in Baghdad. They must have really good traffic system if people can go to work or school via the checkpoints so that it doesn't take too much time. It's really funny and odd to walk from Finland to Sweden at winter. You can't even see where the border goes and nobody asks questions. I don't remember do they ever ask passport from car drivers but not very often.

I am not advocating religious states but showing that evil can come with non-religious states too. They don't have an organized religious state based on religion. The USSR was declared a non-religious state in fact and atheist. Us humans are one of hell of a species whether or not we are religious we seem to ruin something.

That would pretty much make almost all of them. Most religions of the world have fringe militant sects. Even Christianity preaches similar doctrines (depending on which of the 30,000 denominations you look at) but instead of calling on the masses to wage full scale war like the Crusades, it's just been reduced to mostly acts of passive aggressive intolerance, bigotry, and hatred, Westboro Baptist Church and the Catholic bombings of abortion clinics are an example of this.
