Have seen just 2 minutes, but I know Poland has a tradition of sailors for centuries. Thanks to that bloody Cold War nonsense, it was not evident to visit Poland. But in fact everybody in Europe should go there. An old man in my kayak (and canoe) club has done lot to help a small Polish kayak club, in the seventies and eighties. He asked all his friends to donate an old but still okay kayak. So he took a trailer full of kayaks, there. And he is the type of man, helping friends in a practical way. Not much talking. You might find a pair of home brew neoprene gloves in your boat, when he has seen you paddling in icecold water. And in Poland he met guys like him, starting a kayak club for their village school. So he gets them more boats, the next trip. Yes, Poland is beautiful, that is what I wanted to show to you. Go there! And yes, the young sailors are great.

agreed 100% , the only thing keeping this video from millions of views is the title. it needs to be catchy and something with words that people search for alot. It would be a shame to have such a great film remain basically unseen by the masses.

Interesting documentary. Nunavut is a Canadian territory (not a Province) and struggles for self-governance. I'm a Canadian. Nunavut was created out of the Northwest Territories. I will let you google the rest of the history. it only goes back about 1,000 years, indigenous peoples notwithstanding. peace!

The ship "Maud" that sunk in the bay is actually brought back to Norway for resturation. Her last journey started in the summer 2016 and completed through the North West passage and ended her journey in Norway in 2018. You can read more here www.maudreturnshome.no/uncategorized/maud-is-home/

sailing or motoring?
@konstantyy6 жыл бұрын
Both, of course. Similar like first conqueror Roald Amundsen in 1906. Nw pass has quite comlicated navigation and wind conditions, ( no wind or to strong wind from different directions). Everytime when wind was good we used sails :-)

Against odds?! When Roald Amundsen has a goal, he will arrive. Question is, when. It is that simple. No odds involved, very sorry. There were people fooling around with ponies in Antarctica, and all were starving halfway the trip. That's not the correct way to reach the south pole. Amundsen's team used dogs and they were used to langlauf ski's. Being ten times faster, there is far less food to be carried around. Logistics gets crucial, what gave Amundsen an advantage, was that his team was eating the dogs. Once a sled is empty, no more food, one does not need that group of dog anymore. The English expedition refused to eat dogs, so they took ponies to pull the sleds, but that did not go according to plan. The terrain was too rough for ponies. This expedition is one example, Amundsen was very experienced in low temperature survival. It took stronger odds to stop him, than average men. Because he knew one or two things more, than the competition did.
