I have been looking for this song forever! We sang it in concert choral in 1979 at Harris Stowe Teacher's College in St. Louis, Mo. Doris Wilson was the Conductor. I simply love it!

We just performed this work on Saturday 12/2/23 at Kent State University with a chamber string quartet instead of a full orchestra. I absolutely loved singing this (Alto I, although Soprano IIs sang our part and we sang the low alto line). It’s a shame this work isn’t programmed more often during the holiday season. Perhaps it’s because of its slightly melancholy nature, and people want to hear cheerful carols and familiar works like “Messiah” that everyone knows by heart. Still, I’m glad I talked our conductor into programming this work. It was worth every bit of it. Glorious and beautiful! 🎹🎼🎶🎵

I performed this work with my church choir, organ and harp twice. Gorgeous text and music.

We performed it on 12/10/23 with the Toronto Classical Singers. I wasn't sure I loved it when we started rehearsing; it grew on most of us. Apparently, it sounded great! Thanks to our fearless Artistic Director, Jürgen Petrenko, for performing this unusual work with us, a community choir.

Have to do this in choir. But no orchestra just a piano because of how loud they are.

Just unable to hear the soloist or the words from the choir. Sound check please!

The tempo was just a LITTLE fast.. it sounded magnificent nonetheless. If the only thing I can note is the tempo... BRAVO.

Yes, a good performance, but agree with Sonia Harden. There should have been a better sound check, on all levels. The pacing is also too fast, I believe this music demands a slower, more meditative approach, agree with Nikolas.

Recording levels are terrible.....can't hear the soloists or the choir clearly! Orchestra is tooooooo loud!!!! Seems to be a good performance, but badly recorded.

Your hearing or sound system is defective, I'm able to hear everything perfectly. Some people seem to forget that there is a huge amount of all types of music on KZbin and its all free. So if everything uploaded isn't perfect that's tough, be glad it's there at all.

Also Sonia Harden, what were your thoughts on how the audience responded at the end. The response didn't sound lukewarm, did it? I agree though that the performance was good.

Never mind my question, since the camera went off right when the audience started clapping.
