Oh my Maria, what a transformation! The first half of this video was just amazing, and I kept thinking that you had undergone some energetic transformation, and it felt so much more grounded. The video itself was so dynamic, the choice of music just perfect. I could feel the shift in your energy so strongly, so when in the second half you used almost the same words I had in my head I wasn't surprised at all. I am so happy that things are shifting. Therapy can be so helpful as a catalyst to move us out of places where we are stuck. And you are quite right, the world quite sick right now, so much dark energy that it can feel very hard to be optimistic or find joy or light. It is wonderful that you and Bendik are taking some time to enjoy the fall. It is my favourite season also. The footage you shared was just so beautiful and it felt healing, too. Congratulations on reaching 25k viewers! And yes, it would be lovely to hear more about what Bendik is doing with his art. I think having a camera on you must be quite bizarre feeling, but just imagine that you are talking to your dearest, kindest friends. I'm sure Bendik will get used to it if he participates more. Another KZbinr I have watched for many years got married and it was the same with her husband, but now he has gotten more used to it and contributes in a lovely way. All the very best for the rest of fall and winter. I look forward to seeing more of the new "fearless" you showing up. I always say that vulnerability is strength, because you get to say "Here I am, warts and all. Take me as you see me. If you don't like it, so be it, but I am going to be myself." Kram fra din vennine i Canada.

Thank you so much for your videos. Your sensitivity shows through with the way you appreciate the beauty in so many things you see. That sensitivity brings with it the feelings you have mentioned today, but it is so good that you are working your way through them and moving on. I was so lucky that my wife would recognise when I was troubled and we would talk it through and find out what was troubling me when I couldn’t work it out. Please keep on with the videos just as they are now.

@@Mariaandtheforest Yes, I understand that it is still hard. Life is even more difficult these days than it was when I was your age, and I feel so sad for young people because of it. It's great that Bendik is open to the one video, anyway. It is generous of him. I am heading off to drive to Florida (a long drive!) this weekend for Miami Art Week - my first real vacation in many years, so it won't be quite such long, dark days while I'm away (and much warmer, though here in Canada it has been strangely warm - like 9 degrees a couple of days this week!), but that "love in the time of darkness" (and there are other ways to think of "the time of darkness" too) is much appreciated! Sending it back to you too! May the future bring more light and joy to your heart, Maria. 🥰

You were very smart, very smart to seek therapy. I found that it helps you with a different perspective other than the hole you think you're in! My 40's were so confusing. Now I'm 73 and life is good and has been for the last 15 years or so. I would gladly trade spaces with you but I wouldn't want to put you through the probable hell we will be in a year from now (America). Enjoy every moment outdoors with the geese, sunsets and forest. Remember to breathe! Don't worry about what we think. You can't please everyone so just please yourself. Light a candle, sip some tea and hug your loved ones!

I found your channel through Jonna Jinton and have always looked forward to your thoughtful videos. The way you film and edit flows so naturally, it feels like art. Your honesty is appealing and grounded, something that, especially here in USA where worries about the future feel overwhelmingly intense, you are a balm for the soul. It is good to feel understood through another person's insights, even if you might have no idea that this is what you offer us when you publish a video. Life is not all roses for any of us. It balances and rebalances until we learn a little more about ourselves and our place in the world. One day, we will fully understand.

I’ve been with you for years and love watching you grow and evolve into the beautiful person you are. Thank you for sharing your work you’ve been doing this fall. I’m 56 and back in the day it (Personal struggle) was not discussed or shared and I am so grateful that now, even though it is difficult, it is shared and helps others not to feel alone. Therapy is a great way for many to work on ourselves. I just started this fall too as when I was younger there was such a stigma and I could not feel I could find anyone to share these thoughts let alone the time it involved but my goodness it is so worth it to find these triggers/feelings and come to the root of the issues and feel freed from feelings which don’t help us grow in a healthy way to our full potential. You are a light and I love the videos you’ve made and continue to produce. ❤

Thank you for your beautiful comment Christina❤️. It was my hope in sharing this that I can make a little contribution to taking down the stigma around therapy. And so good you are also finding that it helps you! Glad we both are

Hi Maria, I started watching your channel over the last year or so. I enjoy your videos and the way you explain everything. I visited Norway in 1978 for the first time. My brother-in-law's brother lived there in Molde. I have been several times since, and was in Bergen, Molde and Bud (where my Norwegian friend lives) last year. I'm getting on a bit now in age, and I understand how you feel, or did at this moment in time, after myself dealing with upset over the years. You do a good job with your channel, and should be proud of yourself for getting the 25000+ mark! Furthermore, you have a loving Bendik, and your pets, plus a lovely home. Thank you for sharing your feelings! It’s scary to be vulnerable but the alternative is not being able to be our authentic self which is much more painful in the long run! I feel ok today not being for everyone cause I can be a little extra but I’m fine with that! If you aren’t on the same page it’s ok cause our difference make us who we are but we are more alike than you think! I choose to see the ways we are the same instead of the ways we aren’t! Sending you so much love & light💛⭐️

Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful colors of nature... When we are openminded we also feel the sadness and crazyness of what is going on in the world. Then our doubts, confusions and tears have to do with things happening very far away from us. Nevertheless looking for our balance is essential. Stay grounded and confident, be happy in these strage times - at your beautiful place!

Dear Maria, now I have a minute to reply to this video properly. Firstly, love the mood and music in this video! Another video that helps me connect with nature through this screen I am looking at, if that makes sense lol. I am in Berlin and the city just takes over all the time with all the buzz. But when I was in Norway this summer and it rained constantly and I went to the forrest on walks that took all day long I really felt "home" and it reminded me of my 5-year old self when I was constantly outside and felt very alive and your videos remind me of that. However I do want to say something about the last part of your video, or shall i say the second part, where you sit in the forrest in the fog and talk about some personal stuff. I REALLY REALLY love your honesty, talking about your feelings, the fact you took on therapy and the shame about putting yourself out there via youtube. It helps so much,because there are many people who wish they could overcome their fears ( like me) and go out there and share stuff. I always want to be strong and am a lonely wolf deep inside and it has gotten me nowhere. But REAL connection only happens when one is authentic, in the good and the bad times one goes through, because we all do. And when YOU share your thoughts it makes me think, oh I can do that too and survive the shame :) I hope this makes sense.. thank you very much for all you do, for sharing the beauty you see and for sharing your deeper thoughts, it is greatly appreciated.Cheers from me

Right at the beginning of your beautiful video, while you are walking through the misty fields, it looks almost like a Jane Austen kind of melancholic morning stroll. You feel like a friend, thank you for that! Question for Maria: You are such a great storyteller. Are you writing a lot? Are you thinking about publishing stories or a book at some stage or any other written-down projects? Question for Bendik: How and why did you fall in love with paper? Does your creativity just comes bursting out, or is it more of a flow, or even a longer process? Question for the both of you: What do you consider to be the most quirky but wonderful quality of eachother? Question for Flint: How many mice do you catch and what is your favourite spot in and around the house to relax and purr away?

I am glad I found your channel a few years ago, I find myself relating to you very often. I hope you continue to do better with the self work and therapy, it is always a worthwhile venture to take care of oneself even on days it feels like a chore. I've wanted to be more active in comments or questions, though truthfully sometimes I couldn't even watch videos because I have been so homesick for forests that I couldn't enjoy anything without feeling all envious and trapped. I would not reccomend moving to a tiny arctic archipelago with no forests if trees and camping etc. ground you... it does weird things in the brain. I've been a full wreck since 2021 and even though I feel like I finally know myself better and I'm settling with who I am; I'm still in the thick of it with the changes of life. I've often thought about sharing about my life and living here in the Faroes; but the embarrassment of talking to a camera resonated with me. I would like to, but knowing me I would be like "Hello, instead of therapy this week I will be taking my camera out to the snow and talking to the invisible people in it while avoiding what I should be doing. AMA". Maybe someday...
@MariaandtheforestАй бұрын
I'm glad to see you in the comments whenever you feel like it. And I totally get the feeling of envy and claustrophobia when watching videos. I remember I used to feel that way when I lived in the city and watched Jonna Jintons videos... I remember crying sometimes after watching them 🙈and I still could not stop watching them because I longed for that life so badly. So nice that you feel more settled in who you are, that takes a lot of work for most people and is no small thing! Sad to hear you are still in the thick of it though, I am sending my love to you. Making changes in life is so damn hard sometimes... I would for sure watch videos from the Faroe Islands if you decided to make some! But I get that it is not for everyone to sit and talk to a camera by themselves 😂

@Mariaandtheforest well catch me sometime in the 2030s, I will surely have it together by then! (Right? Right.) Take care of yourself this winter, have all the cozy slow moments, love from Føroyar.

Ah kindred spirit friend! I am currently editing my next KZbin video about my life here out in the remote west that's about exactly this - preparing for winter and taking space to digest a lot. It's so beautiful to see someone's life that lives half way across the world and to see so many similarities. So proud of you for this beautiful, real, and honest share as well. I know the energy and sort of, courage it takes to sit down and share - it's such a real thing! I relate in so many ways I wish we could sit down over coffee and chat. In the meantime, you're not alone and I'm sending all my very best from my little corner of the world to yours 🧡

Thank you Gabrielle❤️ . I think that coffee chat would be so nice! But in the meantime I also appreciate your presence here a lot ❤️

Du er ganske flink på engelsk, du! Questions for consideration: Do you knit all your own sweaters? How many have you made? Thank you so much for your videos.

I can relate to the shame and embarrassment starting a channel. It might be a norwegian thing, or a scandinavian thing maybe? I havent told anyone about my channel and I even named it to keep it "hidden" for norwegians or friends and colleagues trying to find it or stumble upon it. I thought about starting this channel for over a year, but had another plan for another channel even earlier. I love your content Maria! Don`t be scared of us:)

So true! Stupid janteloven is to blame! I ended up having some "talks" with friends after a couple of years where I told them how I had been kind of hiding this thing from them 😂😂. Now some of them watch all my videos and they are so in on it. I am glad I stopped the hiding. I hope it gets easier for you too. Cheering you on from over here!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures (as usual) - esp. for the aurora, fabulous! We could for the first time see a tiny bit of it here in ireland, but nothing like yours! And I think everybody has phases with insecurity, doubts and even fear, and it's good that you now have the time to work through them. For me winter is always a time of reflection, with less pressure to get things done. The calm colours outside give me peace on the inside? I have a question for you: which plant with reddish leaves were you picking at the beginning of the video?
@MariaandtheforestАй бұрын
So glad you liked it! I feel the same about winter. It is also nice that there are less options for things to do, so I dont feel stressed in the same way I do in summer 😝

Think I’ll re-watch your video when you were cleaning your house. You were so cute and energetic! Very inspiring! My new approach is a one-hour re-fresh of one room at a time. I tried….took me 4 hours and still more to do! I learned lots about my cleaning approach!

Questions: - what books are you reading right now? - do you and Bendic have professional training in some field? - have you always wanted to be a youtuber? - what is your favorite thing about Norway? - do you have any routines that you want to share? Health/fitness/mindfulness - where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? - favorite food to make?
