Here's me as a Swede (living in Norway) who had never heard the name Bendik before, I thought for sure he was from Central Europe somewhere! It seems there are only 19 people in Sweden named Bendik while there are almost 2200 in Norway, so that goes to show again how Swedish and Norwegian names are sooo different a lot of the time, while the languages are almost identical.

What a lovely video! When my husband and I met, very young, I was surprised how knowledgeable he is about orchids - like you and Bendik‘s interest in gemstones, it‘s unexpected! My husband is a tall broad man and for some reason, you just don‘t expect those gentle sides, crazy because it should be normal lol He is also very kind and generous, and here we are, 40 years later…!! Sometimes we shouldn‘t overthink things too much 😉 God Jul 🌲🌲🌲

Your film-making, editing and soundtrack choices were fantastic and showcase not only the beauty of the land but the feeling of being there. I love the details as well as the big views. Whatever's going on in your inner life, you have an incredible eye for the beauty all around you, and for how it'll look on camera. Just exceptional color, the fall season, the sunsets, the northern lights. We should all move to Norway. Or not... Anyway, yeah, everybody's feeling down and crappy and often afraid of the strife and violence going on in the world. And we need videos and commentaries like this to help us stay grounded. 16:48 This island is called Laukøya (the locals call it Nikkeby) - and it is where my mother grew up with all her siblings. We frequently visited this island for summer vacation and on weekends, for a time away from the City (Tromsø). We still have a house there, which is owned by the family and still in frequent use. It is the one place on earth where I feel like the time stops and I am home. The serenity, the remoteness and the vicinity to both the sea and the mountains makes it a lovely place to just relax and watch the days pass. On a side note: My dad is from Hammerfest, but I havent been there for 40 odd years, and it was so nice to see it again.

Hi Maria, I started watching your channel over the last year or so. I enjoy your videos and the way you explain everything. I visited Norway in 1978 for the first time. My brother-in-law's brother lived there in Molde. I have been several times since, and was in Bergen, Molde and Bud (where my Norwegian friend lives) last year. I'm getting on a bit now in age, and I understand how you feel, or did at this moment in time, after myself dealing with upset over the years. You do a good job with your channel, and should be proud of yourself for getting the 25000+ mark! Furthermore, you have a loving Bendik, and your pets, plus a lovely home.
