Good to hear your story Eric. I love your Dad’s approach… setting you on the path but making you self reliant too… that way, you learned fast. Some of this should be required listening for new racers. I know… it can be incredibly tough when you’re trying hard in the early days but are way off the pace. Self doubt creeps quickly in and you can feel like a fraud, like you don’t belong. As you said, you have to fight through this… there are no short cuts and 99.5% of successful drivers have been through it too … I think maybe 0.5% have the other-worldly talent to be fast from Day 1…

I’m glad you found some of what I said interesting and hopefully entertaining! I was lucky to end up where I did but like you said, it’s mostly thanks to the pathway I was set on. Part 2 should release later today!
