The verses (and their lyrics) are such a great part of the song, it definitely would have been a shame to leave them out. Interestingly, the original vintage sheet music also includes a page of "extra verses," some of which are quite humorous.

Thank you, as always, for the compliment! I've often found that the verses in vintage music are surprisingly beautiful, sometimes just as beautiful as the chorus, so I try to include them when I can unless I'm playing a longer medley.

I used a scan of the original vintage sheet music (levysheetmusic.mse.jhu.edu/collection/147/102) to learn the song and added my own embellishments to it to flesh it out. I don't have sheet music for my specific arrangement, but I might write sheets for it at some point!

Oh wow, you certainly are early, Marnie! 😄 I'll put "A Garden in the Rain" sheets on my to-do list and see if I can get to them at some point. For these types of old songs, I usually use the original vintage sheets and work off of those, but sometimes I do like to write out my arrangements so others can learn them or so I can re-learn them in the future.
