The best I can say is, a million thanks for doing this! I have never heard a concert version as good; including the Ampico roll frequently heard! You obviously put a lot of thought and hard work into this performance. I also appreciate you publishing some interesting history of the piece and Ms. Jacobs-Bond. Anyway, many thanks and I’d buy you dinner if you were close by. God bless! -N

Thanks! Wonderful performance. I picture my grandmother playing this for the silent movies in her home town. She said the films came with music, but it was usually terrible and sometimes the something they sent for the last movie. So, she just played what she wanted that made sense. Will never know if she played this one, but based on its popularity, she probably knew of it.

It's so neat that you're related to someone who had that job. Accompanying a silent film like that is a whole separate skill, and not one seen very often these days.

Wonderful! This is an amazing piece. It's full of great melodies that really give a full feeling when playing it. It's nice to hear it played with such a light touch. I usually find a heavier touch fits the piece better but it wounds great either way. The arrangement is great too.

I first heard this song at a USO dance in Sydney in 1944. There was a pretty nurse whom we all had our eyes on but I was lucky enough to snatch her hand for a dance, and this song was playing. I didn't know if I would see her again but I gave her a kiss and promised I would write whenever I came into a port and could mail a letter. After the war I was stationed in Okinawa and wrote to her everyday but I never got a reply. I think of her when I hear this song and hope that she had a good life.

This has been one of my favourite piece ever since I first hear it played by Fats Waller. I didn't really notice it much then but always enjoyed it when it came on. Later I used to listen to a lot of Johnny Dodds and his recordings of it was great too. I then heard it played by a band a friend of mine leads. Once I got home I looked up some sheet music for the piece and it's been one of my favourites to play ever since. It's probably got to have one of the most moving melodies of any jazz song and is also great for double time so is always a lot of fun to perform. Great performance here. I really enjoyed it
