At the 6th of July we had to be confronted with the loss of one of the greatest film composers who ever worked in that field: Ennio Morricone. He was one of the most hard working musicians, taking credit for about 500 film scores, sometimes writing over a dozen a year, orchestrating all by himself, giving them his unforgettable and legendary Morricone-sound. Over the last week you could decide, which music of his we are going to listen to today. Most of you voted for “In The Line Of Fire” and here we are enjoying his score for the 1993 Wolfgang Petersen thriller, starring Clint Eastwood and John Malcovich in just fantastic performances and an indeed thrilling cinematic experience. The tone and the colors of the score by Maestro Morricone remind here and there of the one for Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables” (1987), but in fact giving “In The Line Of Fire” the right pulse and suspenseful atmosphere. Next time we will sure take a listen to one of the other superbly requested scores… Enjoy! In remembrance. I remember when I heard Morricone’s music for the first time on an LP and an EP my father owned. The first time I saw a film scored by Morricone was Sergio Leone’s masterpiece “The Good, The Bad And The Ugly” (I think I don’t need to say any more about the movie) and I was just blown away right from the beginning, being confronted with strange flutes, whistling, electric guitars and a sometimes dark, sometimes screaming choir. It was a total new kind of musical experience and I was very happy to get my hands on the soundtrack album and on another one and another one and so on… Morricone’s music will always stand out among others.

Your beautiful story described my similar addiction to soundtracks perfectly. I saw box sets of Morricone's really early works on CD in a Thrift store and couldn't afford them. When I went back with enough dough they were gone. My heart sinks to my stomach when I remember this.

@@dingorex Hello Dingo, do you remember the title of the set or any details? I am very interested in which of the hundreds of Morricone sets it was. Best to you! Fred

4 days ago, he passed away a year ago. I remember where I was when the news broke. I’m glad I can still enjoy his legacy of brilliant and action packed music today.

Very good!! My favourite tracks are " Taking The Bullet " and " Aim High ". Morricone, I think so, is ( not " was ") the most popular soundtrack composer around the world. It's incredible: EVERYBODY knows Ennio Morricone!! Here, in Brasil, he is a BIG hit!! In truth, he and Vangelis ( now, both in the Heaven ). Thanks, Fred!!

Just saw this movie a few days ago for the first time. I didn't know Mr. Morricone did this soundtrack. But I had a feeling that it was him. He had that trademark style. I especially enjoy the "love theme" for this film

Ennio Morricone. True musical genius. _My Name is Nobody_ is not one of my most favorite of Morricone's scores. However, there is one part, _My Fault,_ which I recently stumbled onto. It is such a beautiful piece of work, I listened to it several times a day, sometimes back-to-back-to-back, for several months. Couldn't stop listening to it.
