The most mindblowing thing about robert is that this is his retirement gig from his previous life. It is true that he faked his death, but not by car bom but rather surviving multiple gunshot wounds at the hands of a russian hit squad in LA. Robert's real name is Lorenzo Harris a once highly decorated narcotics officer. The name he used during his "training days". Immediately joining a joint cia/fbi speacialized protection program following his recovery, that included intense special forces and defense training. Once a cold, calculated killer with a heart of steel, now a cold, calculated killer with a heart of gold. Trying to equalize the wrongs for the people he would have once taken advantage of. Remember, "you dont know what death is". Sometimes the ultimate sleep, can be the ultimate wake up call.

Robert McCall is forever the GOAT for me. Denzel has always been an incredible actor with such conviction in his eyes. Able to put the fear of God in someone and this role is perfect for him because it shows how cold and calculating he can be all while maintaining the goal of compassion and peace for those he loves and cares for. A+ movie and chracter🎯 excellent analysis btw!

Sorry to be a damp squib but Robert McCall DOES have ocd not cripplingly bad but he does have it, Washington himself has said that he was given free rein with his characters backstory by the director and he explicitly said he made McCall ocd deliberately.
