ignorant. as a orthodox fundamentalist, You should actually call that orthodox music (look when gregorian chant was born) just like other orthodox fundamentalists call old celtic/irish church culture orthodox.

@@imatrOlda ha, i like when you want to look like you know something, but you don't. Gregorian is catholoc music, that had nothing to do with orthodoxy, only if the want to bring us into ecumenism. For me, as an orthodox, just bizantine music make me feel in hands of god, with great himns written by our great saint and protopsalts, John Damaschin, John Cucuzel or Roman the melode. Don't care about others opinions, keep orthodoxy pure, distant for catholics trials to bring us to ecumenism.

⁠Thank You for Your ideas. I have actually a master degree in theology, so I might know something. How You feel depends on Your indoctrination. In this case a false indoctrination. According to orthodox theology, before 1054 the Western Church is considered orthodox. And gregorian chant exist from the time bero schism. Nowadays there are very conservative latin parishes with latin liturgy part of orthodox church. Orthodox doest mean byzantine according to orthodox teaching and who says so, is heterodox in fact. Concerning Your personal problems with ecumenism: most of the orthodox churches are members of the highes institusion of ecumenism the World council of churches (Romanian orthodox church since 1961 for example), Roman catholic church is not member. Think about that. Jesus Christ didn’t ask us if we want unity or not. He DEMANDED it. Who works against understanding and unity of Christians is acting directly against the will of the Saviour. A serious sin, brother. So maybe we should not just conservate our faith but do everything to grow in it. God bless You!

Actually, Gregorian chant has common roots with Byzantine chant. Western chant seems “problematic” because it is associated with the “Pope” (even though Gregorian chant was used before the Great Schism of 1054 when Rome was still Orthodox). As long as the chant doesn’t include heresies (filioque, purgatory, etc.) we Orthodox should value it and consider it part of our Tradition!!! 🙏🏽
