In The Nursery: Verbena Homestead Purple

Is it fragrant? My grandmother used to grow a purple Verbena ground cover with a beautiful fragrance but the ones in the shops these days aren’t fragrant.

Depending on what zone you live in, not all Verbena are perennial. Here in zone 8, most verbena are actually an annual except a few varieties like Homestead Purple. Check the tag when you're purchasing the plant to see if it will be a perennial in the zone you live in. Which is better? Verbena annual or perennial ? I've just bought one and I think it's perennial (smaal leaves and purple flowers)
