I saw artosis today cast a game where light played action. It appears he is focusing on upgrades first before researching irradiate. He accumulates a bunch of science vessels with at least 150 energy before learning irradiate so therefore those vessels are able to irradiate more units. You can say its quite "Chilling". So I dont think Light forgot to research irradiate. I think its by design
