As I've gotten older I've had less time to keep up with my subsceiptions let alone 20+ minute youtube videos in general ompared to 5 years ago when i was 16. However, with the world being the way it is and my state on lockdown, this Nessmuk series and firebox stove's camping videos have been my escape from the confinement of my suburban household. Thanks for continuing to upload after all these years Dave. Ive been a subscriber since the journal of the yurt and i intend to stay one.

Dave, couple of comments. First, check out the Emberlit titanium stoves ... they take a little longer to set up, but I think they’re lighter than the Firebox, don’t have holes in the bottom for embers to drop through (and burn things), and the little Emberlit FireAnt is made to take a Trangia burner if you want to go alcohol. Been using both sizes for years, and they’re terrific. Second, with a Trangia, you don’t need to wait for it to “bloom.” Soon as it is lit, it is burning fuel and putting out heat that goes to waste if you don’t put your pot on immediately. Love the series. Thanks!

The Nessmuk series are pretty cool. I am a camper/gold prospector so minimizing weight and volume are very important for me as the prospecting gear already adds a substantial load. I haven't moved into the ultralight stuff yet because of price but I'm enjoying going as light as possible👍⛏

Great video as always! I have the mat also but I use it for my hammock. Thought the same thing when I first used it but it was actually very comfortable! I have the stainless steel firebox. I love it, yes it heavier, but at this point I'm OK with that. You still got a pretty good sunrise I thought.

Some good lightweight gear Dave, the big problem with that style of sleep mat though is blowing it up puts a lot of moisture into it with no way of getting it out, over time it will mould up and smell, some form of inflation bag would be a better option.

Good to see you are keeping well Dave. I love my firebox, wouldn't swap it for anything (except possibly the Ti version) fantastic piece of kit. I have been looking at the Nano, to use solely with the Trangia burner (with the option of burning wood if I run out of fuel). I'm not sure if you can get them over your way but I often carry Blackfriars Flapjacks they run anywhere between 400 and 500 calories per bar depending on flavour, and instant mash potato, it weighs next to nothing for the amount you can carry.

Dude you’ve been reading my mind with this series. I’ve also been contemplating the fire box, Trangia, and grill. You can cook jst about anything with this setup, although I have been playin around with my fancy feast stove, they are a pleasure to cook with. I have not had good luck with titanium cookware, besides boiling water or making soups and rices and such , I find they are realy a pain to actually “cook” with. Food sticks like crazy and is horrible to clean.

The Stainless Firebox also takes a long time to cool down, compared to the Titanium. But, it's such a bomb-proof and flexible piece of kit that I ended up grabbing a bunch of other cooking items from them, as well.

Dave have you looked into a propane burner for the firebox stove ? Love mine , I use my pathfinder skillet pots , on mine , I have the little brass burner and your stainless steel burner, I like it best , longer cook time than the brass one. If I have a day or more camping, I'll hang the big bushpot , make beans or a stew , for the whole group. Chilli ,Buffalo soup ,

I used to sell and use both Firebox and Trangia alcohol burner. Both excellent, but the SS Firebox was a bit heavy. (They did not make them in titanium at first.) Good kit but the tent looks a bit too light/thin material. I'll be interested to see review on how it holds up. Light weight is a primary goal for me, too. Thanks for the video.

If you want to go real light, and use Alcohol and wood, you can also look at the Trail Designs Ti-Tri Sidewinder which can be used either as a alcohol stoves or wood gassification stove. It also all fits inside the ti cook pot that it comes with.
