Fun fact: these little fellas take their name and green colouring from a process called kleptoplasty, in which they recycle the chloroplasts in the algae they eat by storing them in their appendages, so they can photosynthesise. This also happens to be why they are my favourite animal of all.

Eeeh, okay! Thank you very much.
@Lumavah Жыл бұрын
Two years late, but the black dots are actually eyes, albeit pretty basic ones. The "antenna" are called rhinophores, they're functionally the leaf sheep's nose. Most sea slugs/nudibranchs have really primitive eyes located on their proper bodies, though some are so basic or deep set in their (colorful) bodies that you often can't see them. They pretty much only detect if there's light or not.

The leaf slugs eat algae and retain the chloroplasts in their body and then carry out photosynthesis. They are autotrophic as well as heterotrophic. When I just read about these leaf slugs. That time I was🤨🤨🤔 very pensive. Now watching them is really amazing🤩🤩.
