That is such a lovely D 18. Really mature and worn in the right way.👍 Very nice explained video, I know how it works and will be done, to get the right neck angel. Not an easy task. Relax, think, breath and it will be great. Btw it should not be that hard to watch the video with less talk and just see the whole progress more, in a silent way. Dont You think so ? Right?

If you're attempting this for the fist time don't forget about the neck/body alignment from the front of the guitar. Ideally this should be checked before the strings and neck come off.

Hi. I have a brand new dreadnought guitar and the bridge on the base part is a bit higher the the treble side. I shaved the bass part of the bridge to make it equal to the treble side. My question is since i shaves it off, using the straight edge from the neck, I see about 1mm of space between the bridge and the straight edge. Some videos says that is sould landat the top of the bridge, some says it should have a bit of space. Is that okay? Or should I replace the bridge? What is your thought about this?

I'd be very interested to know, because this is beyond my expertise, how this does not affect the scale length of the strings at all. the way I see it, taking some wood off of that surface would shorten the distance between the nut and the bridge, but I guess you compensate for that elsewhere, once you correct the angle that the neck sits on the body? Thanks for sharing this, you are braver than I am!

I had my 1976 Martin D-18 neck reset by Dave King, Martin's official repairman here in the UK about ten years ago. Before he began, he reassured me that the intonation wouldn't be affected - and it wasn't. The workmanship was flawless - I couldn't see any evidence that the neck had been removed, apart from the very thin wedge needed under the fretboard extension on the guitar top - and this was only visible on close inspection. An incredible level of skill, a perfect job.

Why are you wearing a mask if you’re all by yourself? Nice work though. Have you ever gone into a finished guitar & scallop un-scalloped braces? I’ve done this many times with miraculous results. I’ll warn you - it does void a warranty, but when a guitar is not resonating & sustaining according to a customers approval, I will perform this with their permission.

I met a luthier recently who was wearing a mask and he said it's not because of covid, but his lungs were really sensitive from too much wood dust inhalation recently 😅
