I LOVE the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I left the church 20 years ago because I was offended by things that had been said. My life after leaving was terribly dark. I had become an alcoholic and drug addict. In the space of “not many years” I was homeless and hopeless. God NEVER gave up trying to rescue me. I’ve recently been rebaptized and feel so much joy that only the gospel and God can provide. These men are in many senses just like us- they are not perfect…. However they are trying their best to follow the the only perfect person to walk the earth. So I feel most comfortable trying to follow their admonitions and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

That’s an amazing story. Thank you for leaving that with us. I left too for a time. Dark, hopelessness is what I found as well. I don’t ever want to go without the Holy Spirit, or the Savior again. Like you God was there waiting for me to choose Him. As soon as I did, I was enveloped in His love & charity.

I had to re-watch Elder Bednar's talk because the spirit of warning was VERY distinct. I've really noticed the African saints OVERFLOWING with the Holy Spirit as the wards and branches grow. Their eyes show so much LOVE for Jesus Christ! 💜🙏🏼🫂 Yet I've seen so many members in America dropping like flies...😲 People here think that God's word is outdated, not applicable to them, and/or just plain offensive. I'm far from perfect, but I know that I returned to church after almost 2 decades of inactivity. THAT mistake was definitely learned from, and I believe my testimony is stronger now than EVER! It's not easy, but being away from the true gospel is way harder, and I'm grateful to have the truth in my life and Jesus Christ as my strength. I fully sustain our first presidency and our 12 Apostles, and I say this in the name of Jesus Christ amen 🙏🏼🥰

As a prideful person, I believe pride is actions as much as it is attitude, and that spending our extra money on luxury for ourselves rather than giving to those in need is prideful no matter where we think our hearts are. As Jesus said, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

He highlights how pride and it’s evidential affects, as is so graphically demonstrated in the Book of Mormon could be our fate should we choose not to alter our (collectively) path.

If you look at the Book of Mormon as a roadmap/time line, Bednar has pretty much put this conference concurrent with Samuel the Lamanite. Which was about 35-38 years out, if I remember correctly. Of course, the Lord did say our times would be shortened, so it could well be less this time. I'm guessing less than 20 but more than 10.

The Book of Mormon is a sacred record not because of the historical content and context, though it does give a true history of the poeple who lived on the american continent, but because of the voice of Christ, found in the words of the prophets, spoken for us today. As was said, we were shown to the prophest Moroni and he wrote for us. It makes sense when you consider he wasn't making the record for himself or the people alove at that time, but for a future date. I feel in my heart that it is true and we need to heed the warnings of the prophets then and now, and rejoice in the testimony of Jesus Christ given by them then and now.

Im making a list of executive functions and management plans for mu adhd brain, I'm now adding spiritual blindness right next to time blindness. I recently studied the word circumspectly, and I know I allow way to much risk into my life and am working on that, but also if I recall right the words "round about" could be attached to that understanding as an action of walking circumspectly before God, and the BOM uses those words frequently. I also have come to believe that the Recieve, Gratitude, Serve cycle is the opposite of the pride cycle. And everything is God's, even if we earned it, we still recieved it of Him, and when we do in gratitude we then become more willing to serve. Many struggle to recieve and wear it as a badge of honor that they don't, and lead with that if they do ever have to ask for help. But we are commanded to ask in prayer, the same prayer we're commanded to be grateful in, and why ask if you aren't willing to receive? And in a Zion like society, if there are only givers, its going to get boring real fast. Even as we give, we simultaneously recieve multiple things in an ongoing nature such as the very air we breathe, the breath of life, all our senses recieve information. The world will tell you not to be a taker, and how that's bad, and they're right. Taking and recieving are not the same thing, but we fail to clarify that, which is evident in our using those words interchangeably in phrases like take out my endowments, when in reality we receive our endowments. Is it another way we rob God if we view it as taking, or fail to be grateful? As we understand that we receive, and are willing to receive, are grateful to receive, service and a desire to do so is naturally occurring and it feels less like a sacrifice, it flows, without compulsory means as they say. Not saying I'm at that level, but its my working theory, and some practice. We focus a lot on serving, but I think if we focused on the myriad of ways we receive, and being willing to receive, in gratitude, service would naturally flow, and we wouldn't have to suggest and focus on serving so much, because it would already be there. Its like how a small child needs to feel the sense they possess or own that toy before they'll share it freely. But once they do feel secure in that possession they can share it freely, knowing it would come back to them. When we recognize and are secure in that all things are God's and we are only recievers, in gratitude, we then more easily serve. Also the scriptures say to deny not the power of God, and the power of God works through other people. But we need discernment for this, because not all givers are righteous. Its much easier to receive from God than from man, but using discernment to know who is safe to receive from, and when we might need to put boundaries on recieving is also necessary and important. Recieving sunlight 24/7 is difficult for our bodies. A lady I've watched on KZbin who lives in the North Pole says the constant sunlight is harder for her than the constant darkness due to not being able to sleep. Blackout curtains are an excellent boundary.

I was 11 years old when Ezra Taft Bensen became the prophet, so I don't remember a lot of his council for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Although, I know the words of past prophets are still as important to us in our day. God chose these prophets for His purposes. We most follow the living prophet, although we most still learn from the past as well.

President Brigham Young (1801-77) said: “The worst fear that I have about [members of this Church] is that they will get rich in this country, forget God and his people, wax fat, and kick themselves out of the Church and go to hell. This people will stand mobbing, robbing, poverty, and all manner of persecution, and be true. But my greater fear for them is that they cannot stand wealth; and yet they have to be tried with riches” (quoted in Preston Nibley, Brigham Young: The Man and His Work [1936], 128).

Ether 2:7-12. The Book of Mormon is a warning to we, the Gentiles. We've been blessed with a land that is choice above all other lands. We've been blessed with freedom, liberty, and great prosperity. It's all dependent on us being righteous. From the time I was a teenager in the 1970s till now, but especially the last twenty years or so, I've felt like our country has been gradually devolving and degrading at an ever faster rate of decline. Will we end up like the Nephites and be swept off the land?
