Beautiful consideration - always be ready to forgive. We really do live in a divided world. It takes effort to achieve unity. "We have to choose Christ...because the culture around us does NOT choose Him." Sad how few take Christ's words seriously, how few ever apologize and ask for forgiveness.

This is so true for me right now. No one in my family is a faithful Catholic, some are even atheists, and I have zero Catholic friends. I am so lonely, every day fighting a battle against the skepticism and ridicule of those who are closest to me. The sadness of this fact can be soul-crushing and the temptation to bitterness is strong but I always remind myself that my war is against the principalities and powers that blind so many and not against other people. It is definitely a trial but I try to seek holiness through it.

I think this is really spot on. Somehow, out of a family of 6, for a long time ive been the only one who is still Catholic. Just watched this video and all I can do is cry and praise Jesus for sending us this priest. My heart was so heavy these weeks, as people who are part of my current state of life have been skeptical about my orthodoxy towards Church teachings. I was trying to hold on to the teachings and over the past days and even this morning, right before watching this video, I heard voices trying to convince me that I should be more loving and less rule-abiding and more accepting and welcoming. However, in the depths of my heart, I knew that this was wrong. And now, Fr. Mike has clearly stated what to do. And I am just so convinced that this is the Holy Spirit talking to us through Fr. Mike. My heart is on fire! Thank you, Fr. Mike, for all that you do for His beloved Bride, the Church. Thank you for your sufferings and sacrifices. God bless you!

I have a similar problem. My adult kids think I'm a racist homophobe. For them, anything goes and if it feels good, do it. Their world view comes from what their friends think or what they see on TV. They don't stop and contemplate why the Church teaches what they do. They don't read or go to Mass, no prayer or contemplation. It's so sad, that as a mother, you raise them to love God, and then they grow up and are then ashamed to speak up for Our Lord. I feel myself drifting away from them. When I am with my kids, I keep the conversation on what's going on with them or their friends. I don't talk about anything I am doing or things that I would love to talk about, which is my faith and spiritual things. Growing up, my children were always so respectful of me and listened to me. Now, I feel like I'm the child the way they sometimes talk to me. They are SO of the world, and it is really sad. I give this to Our Lord, pray my Rosary and try to live in God's presence, knowing that my relationship with Him is the most important thing in my life. Thank you Fr. Mike for this video, I'm now going to listen to it again!

This is eloquently spoken. The message put into an actionable context the challenge of existing in a very painful and difficult time. There is a sword that Jesus brought which defines the holy and unholy world. "Don't be bitter" toward others even as they may be living in ways that we can't seem to reconcile. Acknowledge that we too are sometimes drawn into darkness and we need each other to pray for and support our own difficult journeys. Other times let our joy in the Lord be the light that may bring other to Christ. Thank you Father Mike, for helping me to think this out and learn that I can control the bitterness caused by the world's division. Very Holy advice!

My family is Baptist, and refused to let me pray with her and bless her with Holy Water. I eventually decided to pray with her regardless and my aunt deliberately kept trying to interrupt my prayer with my gran, and we were raised never to interrupt anyone even in mental prayer, so it really hurt, they don't think that I am worthy of the promises of Christ, and didn't want me to have one last prayer with my grandmother who was very devout in her faith, she taught me to know God. Forgiveness is so hard Father. I have tears running down my face just typing this. Thank you. +M+

Well put farher! I’ve been thinking about this division a lot lately, and I have found what I think is the key to responding to people that are doing things we christians believe to be sinful. Look at Jesus meeting the adulterer, je knew she sinned, but he did not condemn her, he loved her still, but he condemned her sin and told her to be free of it. We should love people, but in this love remind them that what they do is wrong.

I have been sad and bitter about one of my brothers who disagrees with and have been bitter about the way he treats me. I accept that I cannot change him. I still love him but have the wisdom not to expect him to ever embrace Catholicism. Need prayer and grace of Sacraments to heal from this. Thank you.

You never know what may happen. Salvation is personal. I too have had to accept this. 4 kids only me still practising. Now I have to make sure my kids are home during Holy Week. No question of spending it with relations as the casual attitude wounds my heart and makes me angry over the bad example to the kids. So now that we simply stay home, everyone is much happier. I just now live my faith fully but we all still love one another, specially now that our Mum has passed. She would turn in her grave over any separation but I just am not sure not to compromise. Plus I would probably be dead if I were not fortunate enough to be Catholic. Fr told me to keep praying for them. At the end, we shall all take responsibility for ourselves. Hugs
