Hearing your analysis of these episodes is amazing. I never knew anyone who watched this show, so this is the first time I've gotten to hear someone's reaction other than my own. I wish you talked more about it, but this is great nonetheless!

Interesting how he reinvents the scene of what happened with his mother with Laura. He's in the bedroom with Tara, gets panicky about his mother waking up and not finding him, rushes out to his house to find his mother unconscious and becomes traumatised from that event. Again with Laura, he is in the bedroom, he is feeling excited and anxious and suddenly he has a panic attack and rushes out of the house.

Hesitation and relactation are always a good sign that therapy is necessary.

I actually ordered it from Amazon; there's a long wait on Blockbuster. It's so interesting that even with Paul's insights being a therapist, the transference occurs in his and Gina's relationsihp just as it does when he is in the therapist chair.

I was struck by this as well. I am not trained in psychology but I have watched all of season 2 episodes and in this particular episode I was perplexed by how Paul, who is so very good at helping his own patients realize their motivations and the source of their guilt and how misguided those emotions are, and yet in this episode he seems totally unaware of it in his own personal life experience.

I just found this show and have been catching up this past week! I don't know anyone else that watches it though, so I love it that you are doing some commentary with it. I haven't seen season 1 yet....The Paul/Gina sessions are absolutely fascinating. Why do you think she told him at the end of season 2 that her door would not "be always open" anymore? Was it because he backed out of therapy once again? Their scenes are so powerful. Thanks for doing this!

The mother took revenge on the father by hurting their child. Next morning She wasn't there to take responsibility for her action. Paul blacked out spiritually. Gina tries to reveal the hidden, to bring light into that dark Christmas night.

II see it more a case of his mother reacting punitively to the threat of Paul leaving her for another woman. She felt her relationship with Paul was threatened, and so sought to control him with guilt.

@koukouroukou82 When I first started watching this show I thought they did have a relationship but I guess not. Now though I don't think it would it be a good idea for them.
