Along with the wonderful Ina Ray and Melodears, some wonderful for 1936 camera & film-editing/sound-synchronizing magic. Has anything been written about "the making of..." this film and whatever (presumably) larger feature it was part of?

Hi Bob, Thanks for commenting. I agree that this is wonderful editing for the era. Unfortunately, I don't have any additional information on the video. It's nice to meet another Ina Ray Hutton fan!

This would have been a Soundie - a musical short shown between the feature.

Melissa Ritz So great to see these clips! Thanks for adding them. My father was a crazy autograph hound in the late 30s in NYC and I've been cataloging his collection. I try to learn about all the people in his collection and learning so much! This is great - never heard of her before. Same with Cab Calloway's sister.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I love Ina Ray Hutton. And yes, Blanche Calloway was PHENOMENAL too.

My Great Aunt Marian can be seen in many of these clips playing guitar behind Ina.

She "passed" for white back in those days in order to survive in the music business. Like my Mother, she's mixed with white and black, although she looks white. That girl could dance and sing:)
