My interpretation of the song is a story of wanting to thank someone It talks about being lost in a forest but being guided by the red postbox. They talk about how they wish they could hide from the rain inside the postbox, like how you need someone to comfort you when you need it. Afterwards you try to tell them your feelings, but the rain makes your words smudged and unreadable, which is like when you second guess yourself so you rewrite it over and over again, wanting them to understand you. By the time you have the words prepared to tell them, the postbox is full, like they've already lost interest or are otherwise unable to receive your words.
