How do you find secrets in the world? I got to talk with Quinn about what inadequate equilibria is, how the EMH is a poor proxy for thinking about the world in general, and how to think about low-hanging fruit. We discuss the book Inadequate Equilibria by Eliezer Yudkowsky. #narrativespodcast #inadequateequilibria #eliezeryudkowsky

Will Jarvis sounds remarkably similar to Eneasz Brodski, who narrated the HPMOR podcast also written by Eliezer Yudkowsky. So much so that I can't not hear him as the same person.

@@willjarvis103 The HPMOR saga is incredible. As is Yudkowsky's other works. I like Rationality from AI to Zombies. I wish more people dedicated more thought about how they think.

@@willjarvis103 Thank you for sharing that. What I've read so far is interesting. (about 1/6 the way through the scroll) I hope I can find the time to finish it. Unfortunately I'm currently teaching myself Python right now and have to prioritize that work. Amusingly that's somewhat analogous to the Dilemma presented in that very content.

What ever happened to the singular of "equilibria" being "equilibrium"? :'( I know that linguistic prescriptivism is wrong. Unfortunately the way my brain processes language involves raising "mistake" flags when I encounter sentences that don't follow linguistic rules I've learned. These mistake flags are annoying and somehow translate into cognitive effort. So the high frequency of this "mistake" in this episode makes it harder for me to listen to it. My complaint is about my brain, really. I think the fact that English isn't a native language to me might be relevant. My brain seems worried about unlearning what it has memorised as "proper English". Uh I'm only 8 minutes into the episode, but it seems good so far. Thank you.
