An ode to Inanna, goddess who can travel to the underworld and return fully as herself, and Venus, the beautiful planet who every 500 or so days appears to go backwards (retrograde) changing from an evening star to a morning star as she crosses the sun. This is a beautiful metaphor for our journey as souls into our own darkness to dissolve and be reborn again in our creative cycles.
I wrote this song at a time when I was undergoing a deep dive into my shadows on my personal healing journey, coming to terms with the lifetimes I was burned and tending my witch wounds. It is a song to reclaim my friendship with flames in once I did burn, now I return to open my heart as I do my part to release the burden. It's time to turn and face our karma, let life disarm us.
It is filmed in the beautiful region of Ariege in the south of France. After filming this video I leanred that in the mountains just behind one of the last stands of The Cathars, took place. The Cathars were an extremely spiritually advanced group of people who were persecuted by The Catholics because of their success as a society. It is said that the entire people were destroyed, a lot of them burned, and many chose to dance into the fires rather than be forced. For me this is a way that they ensured their loving and courageous spirit lives on in our collective memory.
