To get IMMUNE click here: kgs.link/ImmuneBook -- It’s available in English and German and at online retailers it should be available in pretty much all countries too. Ohai! I’m Philipp, the founder and head writer of Kurzgesagt and author of IMMUNE! Let me say a few words about it: IMMUNE is older than Kurzgesagt and I began working on it about a decade ago in university. The idea was to explore a super important but also extremely misunderstood and complicated topic and “translate” it into a language everybody could understand. I’ve done my best to basically write a super long Kurzgesagt video but with less of the limitations of a ten minute video. IMMUNE is a fascinating and fun journey through your own body, together we’ll be exploring mystery organs, murder universities, your enemies from viruses, bacteria and cancer (and how your immune system might have killed a cancer cell while you were reading the last few sentences) and the incredibly beautiful and amazing parts, cells and systems that keep you alive. After reading it you should not only gain a new appreciation for your own body but also experience disease differently. A flu or something more serious will not be this abstract thing but something you can sort of witness and imagine which mechanisms are active and which cells are doing what. At least personally, knowing how the immune system works always has given me great comfort when I felt unwell. Also 45 illustrated pages by the Kurzgesagt team make the book very pretty. Preorders are incredibly important in the world of books so if you are considering getting it, it would mean a lot if you could do that. Because preorders determine if a publisher will try to get the book into bookstores, so a lot of the book’s success depends on it. I’m incredibly grateful that so many of you have watched these videos in the last few years. And I hope you will give my first book a chance too. - Philipp

Imagine a game where you could play as the immune system of a person, controlling the cells to fight infections as the person grows and ages, and the better you play the longer your person stays alive. And all with Kurzgesagt's art style and music. Edit: Ok, this blew up. I'm making it! Comment and I'll tag you when I have something playable or if you want to help. I've been dreaming about having a game like that since I was a child and will even put money into making it a reality. @The Yangem Happens In majority of attacks of pathogen to the body. Macrophages prefer to reside in tissues while neutrophils reside in blood vessels. Neutrophils made upto more than 50% of all immune cells thats why neutrophils are more likely to face the pathogens first especially if pathogen has entered a blood vessel. After completing my bachelors and masters , both in microbiology, I can't be more overjoyed to see the Immune system being animated and described in such a beautiful way. I've only read it in text in the university for the past 5 years but have never got the chance to visualize its mechanism of action in this beautiful way. Idk why I felt like I was going to tear up by seeing such a beautiful piece of video. Thanks Kurzgesagt for making such an amazing video.

I started learning about the immune system during a period in which I self-harmed, and it got me to stop for a while. You are a fortress; your blood is a moat and the complement system are crocodiles, your skin is a castle wall, your memory cells are long-serving sentries. Even if you hurt yourself, even if you tear through the castle walls and lead the enemy through trapdoors, your immune system will fight for you tirelessly. Crying with an MCAT biology review book in my arms like it was a childhood tale wasn’t something I’d expected, but it got me through the worst of it. That felt nice to get off my chest.

Their videos are stimulating and never boring. The video says the first step in the body's defense is recruitment of macrophages, and this is how it's often taught, but there's another important first step: blood clotting. The clotting cascade responds quickly to the cut to stop bleeding and also to stop invaders from infiltrating. Clotting physically stops pathogens while also signaling to the immune cells what to do. This biological pathway is ancient and essential, and our immune system evolved to work in the context of blood coagulation. This is something I didn't learn in school but is being more widely appreciated by immunologists. I learned it from the Immune podcast. Check it out, now that Kurzgesagt laid out the overview so well :)
@henrysun56603 жыл бұрын
Yeah I figured when watching the video. Your blood clots to prevent any more pathogens from entering which eventually forms into a scab. The scab basically becomes your skin and slowly shrinks over time as your skin repairs itself. Had the blood not clotted you could die because the pathogens will continually enter your body.

Let's all just take a moment to appreciate our little immune armies who keep us safe and scream "BLOODY MURDER!" Not all heroes wear capes. Some are covered in bloodied dead parts of the enemy looking for the right helper T cell.
