This is an amazing aircraft. We were lucky to have flown from New York to Heathrow on this A350-1000 in October the same year and couldn't fault it.. Superb flight. Brilliant capture of this flight. Thank you. 😉👍👍👍👍👍

Those Trent XWB 97's are nowhere near at full power either...it was a de-rated take-off run designed to use up as much runway as necessary and conserve fuel.

Nath D Really? That’s interesting! Is that common practice? I know they don’t give 100% throttle on takeoff (never knew why though!) but is it common practice for takeoffs like that, to use as much runway and use as little fuel as possible? Thanks for the info!

@@IrishAirlines It is all down to available runway length. Itis a system used quite commonly in A340's. Not sure about A330's. I think if the runway length is long enough to allow it and to have room for an aborted take-off then they will use that method otherwise you'll hear those Trent 97's really roaring. It has often made A340's look like they're struggling to get airborne.

Wow! The way the airlines spoil you when you're a first class traveler. I've now seen the videos of first class Singapore airlines, Etihad, and Emerits airlines. The private first class rooms, the space, lounge chair, bed, gourmet exquisite 5 course meals, the flight attendants treating you royally. It's come such a long way in the past 20 years. In the late 1990s, first class cabins were still all 2-2-2 seating arrangements (2 and 2 at the front of 747s), there was no private space, you were still sitting several inches away from a stranger (but at least not bumping elbows like in economy). First class seats didn't even roll out flat to a bed yet. Aside from wider seats and better food, the layouts were still not that different from economy. Now in the late 2010s, the private rooms, etc., and a couple of the airlines in first class have private bars and a shower. And these new 2 story A380s, 20 years ago we had the 747s and the second story hump up front, but the A380s are Wow, the way things are progressing along. I wonder if in another 20 years, there will be 3 story aircrafts where the entire 3rd floor is all first class, with a lounge like the first class lounges in the airports, a massage parlor, and a swimming pool.

A great video, and what a beautiful aircraft. I can't wait for a chance to experience a flight on this model myself. Only one point - I am never sure when reviewers indicate 'good legroom' etc. just what this means! It depends how tall they are! I am 185 cms / 6ft 1in tall and legroom is extremely important for me. Reviewers would help if they indicated their own height, as a means of clarifying this point. Anyway thanks for posting this excellent presentation.

On the A350 there's no junk under the seat, just clear floor, that should help a bit. Like everything though, its not the Aircraft but the AIRLINE that dictates room!

Virgin Atlantic made a wise choice with the a350, it is the quietest and most comfortable aircraft in the sky. I fly exclusively with Asiana Airlines mostly on their a350's and I will say the in-flight service I see here doesn't come close. I've always said, if you want real service, fly with an Asian Based carrier, if you want total crap service, fly with a US based carrier. Congratulation Virgin Atlantic on this purchase.

You are correct about US carriers and their alleged “service”. I hate to say this, because they were my favorite airline for several decades, but United is now the bottom of the barrel. Yes, they have new airplanes (FINALLY!!!!!) and I’m flying on my first Dreamliner soon (787-10), but the service is garbage. I wish that would change.

@@andysmith6824 It won't change, United cares more about executive bonus checks that it's customers. As to the 787, personally I avoid them like the plague. If you read about the whistle blowers telling the BS that goes on in the Charleston plant where there assembled, you would never get on one. Boeing 787, aka the Boeing Nightmare Liner or Screamliner.

Thailand Rose Well, it’ll take more than rumors and whistleblowers. I think United has safe planes, including the Dreamliner. I’ve never been on ANY version of the 787, but I’m spending $1,300 to ride in what should be called First Class but it’s called Business Class for some reason. A long-haul widebody with no FC? I look at other carriers around the world and their “Economy Plus” or “Premium Coach” are like our domestic FC products!!! The world has surpassed us in so many things, but at least we are now 100% self-sufficient with fuel, thanks to fracking and other things. I’ve been waiting for a president to do this my entire adult life! My feeling was that I don’t want part of my income (in taxes) going to princes, kings, queens, etc, from the Mideast so that they can equip their 11th castle with solid gold toilet seats! It’s about time we were self-sufficient because oil causes wars, and now we care MUCH less about the Straights of Hormuz (not sure if I spelled that right). But I still think nobody can beat the appearance of the Queen of the Skies, the 744. And now we hardly see them anymore at SFO., There are daily British Air 744s and a few others, but it’s not like it used to be! Everything is Dreamliners, A380s, A350s,m and 773s (or 77W, whichever you prefer). I wish I could say something that a friend showed me. He works for United somewhere in the USA, and he showed me a document that was definitely meant to be internal with United and not shown to anyone else. It was their goal sheet--it showed what percentage they were shooting for in daily on-time arrivals and daily passenger satisfaction. So it would be like, “Today you should push for X% of passenger satisfaction”. I can’t say the number unless it’s already public because nothing confidential is confidential anymore, but the numbers they put out basically told the employees that you can show up late, look a mess, do a half-ass job, take long breaks and disappear for a few hours, etc....I’m assuming morale must be low at UAL for them to post the numbers I saw. I thought it was something from The Onion at first, but nope, it was the real deal! Anyway, l can’t wait to fly on the 78J as they’re calling it on ATC radars. I haven’t had a day off from work since the middle of 2014 so I’m ready to go! I work 7 days a week and lots of hours. I think I forget how to relax!

Andy Smith delta is the bets North American carrier, they are investing in new aircraft, not like AA and United who chose the B787 thanks to huge discounts and the culture there is mean tot be remarkably good. The economy is being revamped also to make it equal to a premium economy service. I think it will soon far exceed BA. As for the B787, it competes with the A330, that means it should be 2-4-2 but instead it’s 3-3-3. That means it’s pretty narrow and cramped, most of the features such as the tinting windows is just a useless gimmick. I would much rather fly on a B777 or the best in the skies, the A350 and A380. Sadly I haven’t flown on the latest airbus offerings but I did prefer the A330 over the B787, most long haul aircraft I fly on are Boeing though, the A330 being the exception. VS investing in this aircraft is great, BA look like they cut corners though, I’m pretty sure they didn’t get the cameras fitted, Alex Cruz is an awful CEO, equal to Oscar Munoz and Doug Parker. (UA, AA CEO’S)

Yeah I think the plan is, the A350's will be based at Heathrow. As one A350 arrives, an A330 that is currently based at Heathrow will transfer to either Gatwick or Manchester to replace a 747. As well as this, any remaining A340-600's will enter storage as the new aircraft arrive. Eventually. Heathrow will just be A350's and 787's and Gatwick and Manchester just A330-200's and A330-300's.
