BRILLIANT - this train means that there will be even more empty seats on the Inter-Europe airlines. Pity though, that on this inaugural journey the Dining Car was not functioning due to technical issues, as for business-class travellers the on-board catering is fundamental. Thanks for posting this most interesting video and I wish SNCF & DB every success with the new service. Much better than a Business Class flight!

It depends on pricing. Not a songle personnwill pay 300 euros 1 week or last minute train from Paris to berlin when airlines offer simular for half the price or even less (50euros)

Also the flight takes less than 2h, compared to over 8h sitting on a train that's quite attractive.

Very nice video. I hope that DB and SNCF will revive the Nord-Express at some point. More routes like this are needed so that the aeroplane is not the only option. It also shows how important it is to expand the infrastructure in Germany. Greetings from Hamburg

Super interesting! Does anyone know if the tariff connection point called Kehl (Gr), i.e. Kehl Grenze or Kehl border appears on international tickets for TGV Paris - Berlin? I believe that these are trains at market prices and not trains for which the legendary international kilometric TCV tariff can be applied. For example, between Italy and France, Modane (Fr) no longer exists and from next Sunday the international tariff of the Tende line will disappear. There are only a few days left to buy the legendary Ci 204 Spec ticket on board FS trains with the northern and southern border points and the stations in French territory indicated

Is that service will be also served by SNCF's Avelias (that's international brand of Alstom's HSTs, including TGVs, Pendolinos, etc) or DB's Siemens Velaros?

@AgainstWokeness ah sr I forgot, the ICE from Munich to Amsterdam leaves at around 4pm and reach at around 11pm, that's from Germany side and by now the only direct service

Much prefer DB interior. SNCF colors are too garish to be pleasing to the eyes. 🫤. Looking forward to part 2 👍🏻

When you buy 1 of the 2 tickets, you just need to pay extra 4-6 EURO (depends on the class you in) for a seat reservation, which is necessary since these kinds of connection are usually really busy. Ah by the way when you travel to France, Netherlands or Belgium, it should be compulsory

I'm not a big fan of daytime high speed routes being so long. 8h is ideal to make it a night train, but too long to spend on a seat, and 09h-17h means your entire day is gone. I hate it because my country (Spain) eliminated all the night services, and now the only alternatives available to cross the entire country are either wasting an entire day sitting, or flying.

The challenge with overnight trains is that it serves the extremities quite well, but not the middle stops (few want to board a train at 1am).

​@@PatrickLeFloch true, good point. But this train doesn't make almost any middle stops either (just 3 stops in a 1100 km long trip) so it's not a big factor here.

6 hours of travel time between Strasbourg and Berlin ? 1100 km - 396 km (Paris Strasbourg) = 700 km --> 117 km/h of speed average between Strasbourg and Berlin. High speed train really ?

For China is low-speed this 😅. The people will change plane to train when the avg. Speed says between 300 to 400 so the travel time will be close to 3h.

@@ignacionacho4698Difference being that many villages and small towns in Germany make it difficult for DB to build high-speed rails that go a straight path, whereas in China … well, y’know
