I had a Gibson Sonex with a broken head stock, so yes, they break like all other Gibsons. The body is like the same material as a bowling ball, and it’s about that heavy as well. Strangely enough, it was nicely relic’ed for a Resin body. I have owned the Epiphone II and say that they are nothing like a Sonex in feel, because the Sonex has a tummy cut and rounded edges. It is very comfortable to play, other than the weight.

My first guitar was a Gibson Sonex. I sold it but I have fond memories of that guitar.

You guys have given genuinely good advice to Gibson several times on different episodes of the show. I sincerely hope someone from Gibson watches this show and learns from it.

I kind of want a see a bit where Ryan, Steve and producer Brian go golfing. More to just see the other golfers reactions.

That bass? You'll be the only person who has it. Maybe the only one who wants it, but still. Your advice about rentals is valuable life guidance.

A local garage band lifts the chords from GnR’s “One in a Million “, adds the prechorus from Dio’s “Rainbow In The Dark”…. The drunk 35 yr old lady next door sings it while still holding her half empty bottle of vodka and a Virginia Slim cigarette. Think Molly Shannon in Talladega Nights. Great song !

09:00 EXACTLY! just use Orville for more expensive gibson copies and let Epiphone do their original Epiphone stuff in expensive - maybe even made in usa - and also give them the cheap gibson copies made in china. or just let orville handle all the asian copies and let Epiphone be 'authentic'

I can't explain exactly why, but I feel that Devin Townsend is the cyber-truck of guitar players. Jack Black is a Ford Bronco, but the old kind. And I mean both of those as compliments. 😆

Why cant epiphone do both? Reasonable priced starter kits and top end customs?

Mostly useless knowledge: Don't worry about researching the Sonex, there isn't a ton to learn...basically 3 models, two with pickguards like this one. (The third is the Artist...SUPER different, but objectively pretty terrible aside from scarcity.) Most of the Sonex models ended up with Velvet Brick pickups, and the rest had Dirty Fingers. If this knockoff actually has Dirty Fingers it's worth the price...but I'm guessing they're just some GFS zebras, which (controversial?) are probably going to be better than the Velvet Bricks that came in most of them. That "Resinwood" weighed a ton so this knockoff will probably be a couple pounds lighter...which is a big improvement. Originals had no volute on the necks, so they're just as achy-breaky as the rest of the Gibsons. This knockoff is missing the arm bevel though, and that's one of the reasons I like a lot of the early-80's flat-top Gibson electrics. (The GGC-700 is my favorite. All mahogany body, set neck, and Dirty Fingers with a coil tap...hard to find them, but great guitars IMO)

Modern guitarists vs vintage guitarists? Modern guitarists tend to be technically better players but the songs are not catchy. Vintage guitar players played catchier songs. The main difference is that modern music has stepped too far away from Pop, Country, and Blues so that limits mass appeal. You really don't see this "past vs present" question for Jazz players where they have been technical and proficient the whole time.🤔

So I see the three on three trem in that video. I once set up a guitar so three strings were string through on the body, but obviously I could change this and the e,b & g strings were in a vintage style surface mounted trem. It worked for what I was doing.

Oh the lies. For years the deceit. Now it all comes out. Who are you Ryan? You’ve had us believe there was no box but now you’ve ripped the rubber mission impossible face off and revealed that you’re really Josh from jhs and in fact you have the box. I just don’t know what to do. I can’t handle this. I’ve got to go…. Mail, from Steve. It’s a green fuzzy burritto sent out with those pedals. Mmmm. You can really taste the penicillin. Thanks Steve.
