Zvezda's plastic BTR-80 APC kit isn't new, but I've had one in my stash for a while and I thought it was time to dust it off and have a look. Join me for a look inside the box and you can decide for yourself if this kit has a place on your wargaming table.
This is a snap-fit 1/100th scale kit designed for Zvezda's Hot War wargame. That doesn't mean it can't be used for other games like Battlegroup: Northag, World War III Team Yankee or Seven Days To The River Rhine.

Great review Harry! I have been impressed with the Zvezda 1/100 scale models and I built the Cruiser Mk. IV and the Matilda Mk.I and apart from a little detailing they turned out looking very nice. Thanks for sharing this.

Looks good. Your video makes me wanting it even more. About the decals: They are just numbers but these are very good. I like to use them on my soviet/russian modern vehicles.

Hi Trekan. The decals are fine - just a bit limited. But I haven't found and Naval Infantry flashes in this scale anywhere. Those are what I would really like to see.

@@FogofWar I took a look at the online shop of Germany's greatest model online shop just to get an idea. Just found some in 1/35. But with a little luck the "Red Dawn" book will bring not only soviet AB but also Navy inf. Let's hope for the best.

Not that I have heard about specifically. It might be covered under the “other stuff” that was vaguely mentioned for the Warsaw Pact release this year.

This may sound a bit non-empathic but if you wanne know more bout how these soviet build vehicles are used I recommend the YT channel of Radio Free Europe. Yes, it is a propaganda channel of the US ministry of foreign affairs but they got a lot of short videos about the ukrainians using cold war equipment defending their home soil from the russian aggression. And if one knows things about this stuff already like you do I think you will find this interesting, i.e. you will find some videos about the BTR-80/BTR-82. Slava Ukraini!

Thanks Trekan. I am following along with current events, although I'm trying to keep out of mentioning anything to do with that to avoid KZbin's banhammer. One of the Table Ready livestreams got demonetized after a fleeting comment, so I'm steering clear. But thanks for the recommendation. I have seen a couple of their pieces and I'll check it out.

Zvezda lost control of the domain names for some of its wargaming-related websites a few years back and they were taken over by “questionable” adult-entertainment content providers. I mention it in the Mi-24 Hind review and I think the T-72B review as well. So all these kits have download and information links printed on the box that go … somewhere unexpected. I did see a Herbert Erpaderp review the other week where it looks like Zvezda are finally putting stickers over the links printed on the box.
