1. Incantation Pour Que l’Image Devienne Symbole (1937), André Jolivet
Translating to “Incantation in order that the image might become a symbol,” Jolivet wrote this piece at the suggestion of Boris Lipnitzki, a Parisian photographer who photographed celebrities or “symbolic” figures of his time. Recorded on alto flute, this piece can also be played on the standard C flute, or even Ondes Martenot.
