It's very unlikely he'll ever do that. He usually doesn't do a spoiler review of an old movie. He usually only does one on a movie that's in theaters. But I could possibly do it though. I probably should do a spoiler review of the movie some day.

Yep, It's even the best movie ever for me. I must have seen a 1000 movies by now, believe me, I have seen A LOT of movies and my top 10 favorite movies consists of 5 different genres. But Inception just has everything for me. It is the best blockbuster out there. I LOVE me some artsy films, but Inception just has a special place in my heart. The music by Hans Zimmer (I went to a live concert in Amsterdam not long ago, it was truly fantastic and a performence to remember for a lifetime, I fucking love soundtracks!), the editing by Lee Smith, the brilliant writing by Christopher Nolan and of course his brilliant directing makes this movie truly something special indeed. I can never get over how happy this movie made me feel the first time I watched it in theaters, it's still my favorite cinema experience to date. I watch this movie at least 1 time every year. Thank god for Christopher Nolan and his genius mind. This movie made me want to work in the movie industry and made me direct my own first movie ever. I'll enjoy it 'till I die!

Captain Jakemerica Argo's alright nothing special in my opinion. As a Canadian I did not like how they diminished Canada's role in the movie. I haven't seen Lincoln yet but I heard it's good. The rest of the movies you mentioned are all awesome too, besides maybe the revenant. Not the biggest fan.

@RationalLlama
@RationalLlama 8 жыл бұрын
Captain Jakemerica Well I'll say this about the Revenant. From a technical level, it is a very well made movie. Very impressive. It's a technical masterpiece. However it was the story itself I didn't find appealing. I hated the fictional stuff they added into the movie like the Native American wife and son for dramatic effect. The real story is just much more appealing to me.

Inception: Great, not too complicated just enough to keep things interesting, coherent, interesting characters (for the most part), messes with your perception of reality and fantasy Innerstaller: Crap, overly long, only like one character that had a personality, wants to be about hard science but then turns into lovey dovey magic shit towards the end It's not about us not getting them or hating Nolan, you crazy fanatics. One clearly did it better than the other so stop with your condescending "You're too dumb to get it" bullshit

One of the major things that bothered me with this movie is that they didn't even attempt to use brain sensor devices for the shared dreaming. How does an IV tube attached to several peoples wrists sync up their brain patterns? All you needed was like a little patch or something to stick on their heads and I would've bought it. The other stuff that bothered me was the typical cheap convenient plot explanations. Why can't we just shoot him and wake him up? Because the sedatives are too strong, he'll fall into brain limbo.... what?
@raekm
@raekm 10 жыл бұрын
the synching bit is (somewhat) explained when the protagonist points out that they step into the space in between producing the reality of the dream and experiencing the dream if they are in control of that, everything is possible, limited by the subconscient mind of the person they are trying to plant the idea on i also think the director does not believe dreams happen inside the brain, so it would not make much sense for him to use "brain sensors" as it would for you

You have to accept those things, just like how you have to accept all those bullshit things to like Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's a movie, and it has it's own law. You can't watch Back to the Future and talk about how Time Traveling isn't possible when that's the main thing that drives the movie.

Inception is a rare film. It combines the appeal of heart-stopping action with superb characters, actors, and dialog and an interesting and thought provoking premise and plot. It creates a fictional world that is painstakingly realized to the point that despite the fact that very little of it is based on reality (dream layers and the effects of reality on dreams) you are never brought out of the experience. Excellent movie.

For any body wondering, in the end when the top is spinning and it cuts to the credits. The point isn't wether he's dreaming or not. The point is that he turned to his kids. Saying that he doesn't care if it's reality or not. He just cares that he's with his children. Wether he's dreaming or not I don't know. It could have stopped spinning when it hit the credits for all we know. But that's not the point.

I don't think that Joseph Gordon Lewitt pulled off his role in inception he was just there always nagging, questioning all of Cobbs decisions. He seemed to always be irritated like a bratty little skinny teenager walking around with a suit and backslick. He's a good actor otherwise but during the film he had me constantly questioning why is this guy here ? Cobbs kids ? Money ? Friendship ? Bored ?

It's basically like this .. This guy who steals your secrets (extractor) with a team of an architect who designs the dream like a maze (who's the dreamer ) . With a point man (the man who studies the person they're gonna steal from) who is the man who knows everything of the target man. Basically Cobb steals dreams . But he failed with the Asian guy .So Arthur and cobb assembly a team of the Arabic chemist (guy who makes the sedative) the new architect (Ellen page) with Mad max as the forger (the shape shifter) Instead of stealing secrets like they tried from saito instead Cobb has to plant an idea on fishers mind. But the catch is it has been an original fisher idea . So they have to do several levels of dreaming because the deeper they get the more personal they get to fishers life . Eventually forging fishers father to explain to him that he wants him to be his own man instead of Cobb telling fisher to spilt your company.

The first time I watched it was on dvd and I had to pause it countless times throughout the first half of the movie just to process information and make sure I didn't miss anything. The second half isn't as confusing though once you've got through all the concepts of what Cobb's extraction process entails.

TheSaucySauce Seriously? The matrix is a cool movie and one of the greatest sci-fi's of all time, but when you get down to it the matrix has some very stale performance's from pretty much everybody in the darn film. While Inception has one of the most greatest performance's in sci-fi history along with one of the most original sci-fi storylines of all time(not to say that the matrix story line is not totally original, but machines taking over the human race and a group of people who are trying to stop them, yeah not totally original).

i didn't mention it is deep, but it sticks in your head, after you leave the cinema, because of the very interesting (interesting not deep) idea behind the movie and not because of the visual effects. For example "Melancholia" doesn't stick in your head cause of the last special effect, it does because of everything else, which make the special effects much more impressive.

Aventine Every single thing you said was irrelevant to my response, 1. My understanding towards the philosophy behind the Matrix was not mentioned. so mentioning "if you don't think... etc." was completely pointless since I didn't imply that I thought it was less complicated than the Matrix. 2. "you probably didn't understand..." I even clearly admitted that the message was there, but then I also followed that with saying that it's not what makes great movies. You know what made the Matrix a great movie? creativity. Not the "hidden message" which was pretty obvious. Go watch the Hunger games, Avatar, or some other shit that contains deeper philosophy lmao

"Inception makes The Matrix look like it was written by an eight year old"? That actually offended me. So you consider yourself a good movie critic by saying that? Inception is incredibly overrated with a non-existent and shallow plot, which in its quest to be "mentally challenging" or "intelligent" so viewers can think they are smart, actually fails in its convolluted and far fetched storyline (the "architect" learns from doodling on a notebook to "building" dream cities? she isn't at all impressed or afraid of what she is experiencing when first in a dream? what is the point in having so many useless characters? what was the scene from the snowy fortress about? it was excruciatingly long) To finish, please don't ever disgrace The Matrix again, which I have to remind you was done in 1999, and still manages to have better story-line, succession of events, action scenes, slickness, special effects, awesome quotes and a great soundtrack.

why this movie is unoriginal and lame? coz i had already watched the japanese anime called paprika (2006) long time ago and which i feel is a much superior movie about dream hacking. inception has too simple a plot, flat character i didn't really care for, the climax begins half way into the story. that's a really really long climax. climaxes are not supposed to be that long. also, i am quite comfortable with open ended movies (think roshomon), but here it is cheap and feels like it is done just to generate a buzz and get people talking and make nolan like some intellectual, which he is not.
@anandinata21
@anandinata21 10 жыл бұрын
please explain unoriginal, simple plot and flat character. there are tons of movies that involves dream hacking so you can't just say Inception is unoriginal because the movie that you mention also involves dream hacking. i have made a research about the movie you're talking about (Paprika) and i'm guessing that it is a psychological thriller/love drama about a dream therapy that involves a japanese doll and a robot which sounds kinda cheesy (personally) even rotten tomatoes said it "rarely makes sense", and it's also an anime which is personally not really my type of film, so it's not aimed towards me, compared to Inception which is an action/drama/psychological thriller/mystery and aimed towards everyone. They made a theory about how the real world affect the dream and how a dream works, it felt so real some of you may think that it really is how it works. so I simply conclude that Inception is about 1) the complicated process of entering a person's mind and planting an idea in it through lucid dreaming and 2) an awesome plot twist about the main character's deceased wife, So I don't get it if you said it has a simple plot. And third you mention about the flat character, do you know what a flat character means? Here's what I get from wikipedia, "A flat character is a minor character in a play who has no important roles or who is not greatly affected by the events in the story. They are uncomplicated and do not undergo much (if any) transformation during the course of the play." and all the characters in Inception is involved and greatly affected by the events in the plot, and all of them are great actors/actresses. You said the climax is really long, here's a climax definition, "the most exciting and important part of a story, play, or scene that occurs usually at or near the end" so basically you're saying that there is so many excitements which is good or you're saying that the scene when Cobb meets his wife is too long, it's not too long it's necessary to be long, if it's not long enough it will not cover some of the information you need to know. In my opinion you're just not ready for long movies (Inception: 2hrs 28mins) that need lots of brain power.Cheers :)

Dieva Lala You know nothing about Paprika, go watch the movie, seriously, before you comment on it. If you liked Inception and you like psychological thrillers and those things, you'll love Paprika. Besides, Paprika has the absurdity of dreams the real dreams have. Your dreams are not like the dreams of Inception, dreams are waaay too irrational and absurd to be like that. It just makes no sense that a movie about dreams has dreams that make sense. That is NOT how our unconscious works.

+Sudarshan Guruacharya Lol Inception was planned 5 years prior to Paprika idiot. Nolan worked on the script for nine to ten years.When he first started thinking about making the film, Nolan was influenced by "that era of movies where you had The Matrix (1999), you had Dark City (1998), you had The Thirteenth Floor(1999) and, to a certain extent, you had Memento (2000), too. They were based in the principles that the world around you might not be real."Nolan first pitched the film to Warner Bros. in 2001, but then felt that he needed more experience making large-scale films, and embarked on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight

When Bane seized the reactor, it was mentioned that they had about 5 months before it blew up. That gives Bruce enough time for a return trip from anywhere in the world. Gotham wasn't technically quarantined, as food shipments were allowed in. Citizens just weren't allowed out. That's how the Special Forces team managed to get into the city. Not to mention, Bruce was able to travel around the world living among the criminal underworld for 7 years when he ran away from Gotham.

It was never stated where the prison was. So we have no idea how long it takes to get there. When Alfred mentions it to Bruce early on, he says in an "some more ancient part of the world." (The fort is in Jodhpur, India). It is also revealed that Miranda/Talia has a plane, when she says to Bruce: "We could leave. Tonight. Take my plane. Go anywhere we wanted."

He was not dreaming in the end, Nolan has stated in a few interviews that he was not dreaming. The only way he represented this notion was through the top having a VERY SLIGHT shake JUST before the black screen in the end. It's subtle, yet powerful as a dream is represented by the impossibility of a top which endlessly spins. Whereas the effects of gravity are all too real.
@francescoromano
@francescoromano 12 жыл бұрын
I have read an interview before where Nolan was presented with an enormous number of theories and he couldn't believe how imaginative people were (and this was probably Nolan's intention). But in the end Nolan's interpretation was that he had returned to reality. The characters arc was complete when he didn't even bother to wait and see if the top would stop spinning--and this is what he wanted to emphasise. The little bits which implied 'reality' were much more subtle-shaking top, aged kids etc

Then a friend of mine bought it for me on Blu Ray for Christmas one year, so I sat down and watched it. Then immediately after it was over, I watched it again. Bruce's spine was pulled out of place which is why later the doctor pushed it back into place with the old med skill called contraction. It was a blackhole like prison and cleary stated in the film that this was Bane's prison and no one elses. The need for guards is a moot point seeing as how there is only one way out of the pit. What sniper, the police were trapped underground and the few that were not had none of that gear. This was clearly talked about in the film.

That leg atapter is called a P150 leg holt, it is a real tool used by many doctors in this country. Not a flaw at all, my step father has one. Catwoman loved him and he loved her, nothing bad about that scene. In reality shooting Bane would be the only sure way to kill him, although I hated the way he died to. Talia's death was very realistic, dogpile search what happened when someone breaks there neck and get back to me. Gordon never walked the streets by himself, he always had backup.
