It's funny how the Mini has taken a beating over the years by some "experts" yet the rifle has endured. It's a fixture of the American gun culture these days. I haven't owned a Mini is many years, I traded mine for "better" stuff long ago. But you know what, it's still a great rifle and Ruger has done a good job of keeping it current.

I love to see the mini 14 get some positive press. It is a very reliable rifle, and it seems to get bashed a lot due to unrealistic expectations of the rifle. I really enjoy these vids, and find them to be right on point.

Thanks for the test run on the Gen ll Tapco mags I have the 1st gen and they work ok (so far) but I worry about the wear on the front of the mags. I also have a problem fitting Three (3) mags in the standard military mag pouch. The ribs are to thick, I will replace my Gen l mags with Gen ll when I can afford them. Thanks for a great review and keep testing the toys I would like to own. Hope you feel better PFI Dude. Joe R

Surprisingly consistent. I would say 300 meters is tops for center mass on a silohuette@300 (for me anyway) I know others can do more. The big thing is up clsoe. Anyone who says a 2-7 scope is "almost" as fast on 2x than a red dot is wrong, and offhand and moving around that magnification will not help you out to 200. Now for shooting tight groups from a rest....well, yes, a scope of course.

CZ P-07 Duty is one of my favorite pistols, probably my favorite DA/SA. Interesting and suprising to see it malfunction on camera here, mine has always run 100% with 115 grain FMJ. Only downside I've seen on the P-07 is the high price for magazines.

@nutnfancy The front hole on my RRA CAR stock would not hold the clip ring on the right side and after looking at it, the insert was just not centered. I took a small socket and a hammer and tap it to where it was centered. Now it works fine.

the failure of the CZ-p07 was due to the reloads being under-powered. The slide did not come back far enough to let the round in the mag push all the way up before the slide stripped it off and tried to send it into battery. With higher spring pressures this can be overcome, but the last round in the mag is under the least spring tension, this is why many guns fail to feed the last round in a mag, and why the cz won't cycle under-powered ammo.

I'm so glad you guys liked the CZ. Seems CZUSA, and even the prior owners, have maintained a high degree of quality and bang for the buck. You can easily spend 3X the money for something else, not sure you could love it that much more though, all things considered. Not sure why you guys are still grading yourselves, apart from entertainment value. It's about the gear, right? Grade the gear. You know I love you, Nutn (& Veri).

Did PFIDude try out Symbicort? We know somebody with serious asthma problems who took that stuff and it took care of it really well. He can ask his doctor about it in case he's interested. Otherwise, great run and guns! I love seeing that Rock River Arms AR going impressively well in that vid. For the 200 yard target, I suggest bringing binoculars so the timer guy can spot for the shoot- Wait a minute...The sun was shining against you guys. Ahh well, at least that's a good suggestion.

I bought 3 of the Gen 2 Tapco mini14 30rd mags and 2/3 were absolute trash and the third just didnt feed the ammo reliably after the 3rd or fourth round. Yes it was the Gen 2 with the Metal strap. One of the mags couldn't even load into the mini and feed the first round. It fooled me because after I rocked in said mag, it clicked like it should but upon further inspection, the pin did click by bending that cheesy metal strap just like cheap plastic.

@dykecrusher yeah people let him borrow guns from time to time and those particular were given to him because he gave them the helpful feedback to make their product better. As far as I know no guns have been given to him he has only loaned them from friends so he can put out a review on the gun.

yea the red dot is the fastest cqb system.but im not going to get center mass shots with a 4moa dot at 300 yards im just not that good so i need magnification..as for cqb.well lets just say the plan is to never let them get that close to me so i run a 2-7..if i had the money id get a leaupold mark 6 1-6.

@dykecrusher As am I, and he doesn't. Some of the guns he reviews are borrowed, and some he owns. But he doesn't get the stuff for free. That is how he is able to say he is an independant gear reviewer. He even has mentioned that many manufacturers want to send him stuff, and he rarely takes them up, but occasionally he will, and he says as much in his review. Most of his gun reviewed are borrowed, and nearly all the gear he buys; that is one reason he says he likes "high value" over hype.
