LOL I’m the complete opposite, I ghost people in the summer by being outdoors by hiking/backpacking/climbing. Winter is when I come back to reconnect with friends!

I can't help but giggle to myself and think "just move to Northern Europe" when people are talking about "going dark" 😂 I live further north than all of mainland Scotland, so darkness is abundant this time of year...

The cut off all relationship for winter arc because they probably worried that being in a happy relationship will give them extra lbs gives out the same vibe as people in my religion saying, don’t read other holy books because you might be tempted to to convert to a different religion. It’s just stating how weak your faith is or how weak your mental discipline is.
@sportybethАй бұрын
Haha maybe. I got the vibe it was because they were trying to be tough/focused. Either way not necessary 😂

For me I love intensity, I will absolutely get hyped up on Tom Platz edits and absolutely crush my quads and glutes to where I am going to be sore for the entire week. But, I do all that so that I am only having to do them once a week. These people talking about 6 days a week and twice a day, it just doesn't make sense unless they love wasting time. A few sets pushed to failure and beyond, or a few HIIT sessions instead of hours of pump training and hours of zone 2 training means you can spend more time with family and friends, instead of always being at the gym and for that matter always doing laundry as that would be 12 gym outfits in a week and 7 normal outfits, that is like two whole loads of clothes a week from just one person, imagine if a 4 person household all did this, Like if you just enjoy hanging out at the gym or are an IFBB pro or whatever, then cool, but I think some of these fitness influencers are just a bit out of touch with people whose career isn't fitness.
@sportybethАй бұрын
Yeees!! This is it!! A few efficient training sessions would be just as effective if not more.

This winter arc bs just sounds like 75 Hard repackaged. Sidenote, would love a deep dive on 75 Hard and Soft.

I’ve done one on 75 hard. Not quite a deep dive though but I could do an update and include soft as well

I am doing the winter arc. With my own rules. I was slacking and said ykw i will just do the arc and really get into training. I was an athlete and competed years ago so I am used to train 6 times a week. Did nothing during corona and then started going to the gym again, and lately, I haven't prioritised training at all. I started the arc with the goal of 10.000 steps a day, 6 days of training (3-4 days of weight lifting and 2-3 days of cardio) and I started seeing results so fast. Also I am going to take the first two weeks of January off bc the gym is packed the first week and busy the second, and I hate that. And YES I do work. I work full time and I do 12 and 24 h shifts. Also we are understaffed. Just saying bc I have seen a lot of ppl in the comments saying those ppl for sure are unemployed. It is possible even if you work full time.
@sportybethАй бұрын
That’s amazing I’m so glad it’s worked for you to kickstart your goals. Well done that’s a lot of effort and dedication and it sounds like you’re doing it in a positive way for you. Taking time off in January also sounds smart and it’s good that you’ve planned in time for rest. A lot of people will assume people doing this are unemployed because of their own situation. Many are likely working 40+ hours a week. In many parts of the world people have a 1-2 hour commute to places like the gym and work places and many people have families too. It would be impossible to fit it in alongside work especially if you’re that busy. But it sounds like it fits into your life fine and that’s great for you! For many of us it would come with too much sacrifice and I definitely wouldn’t want to be in the gym 6 days a week now and spend so much time away from my daughter.

do these...people not need to work? Like; go completely dark, reset, go cold! Hours in the gym!....yeah no mate I gotta go to work and have a family? xD (this is probably for people who either do not work and are looking for stuff to occupy themselves/want to better themselves physically, or make a living in/around the gym I assume?)

I think for a lot of young men this sort of process can be therapeutic. I know I went through a few of these periods as a much younger man. It's hard to explain this to women and I don't expect women to understand. Our experiances and struggles are completely different. Of course, a lot of the winter arc stuff is cringe and the memes provide good comedy.
@sportybethАй бұрын
I’m less of the belief that men and women are hugely different but I definitely think we are socialised and raised very differently and many men feel the need to hide their emotions, isolate and tough it out because that’s seen as masculine. But it can do a lot of damage and be a self destructive pattern. One that despite being female (raised in a gender neutral environment) I also experienced myself. For me it was not therapeutic and the isolation and self punishment made my mental health a lot worse. But as I say (probably too much) If it works for them/you that’s totally fair!
