Wunderschöne Interpretation dieser spätromantischen und fein komponierten Sonate in verschiedenen Tempi mit mildem Ton der genialen Klarinette und klarem Klang des ebenso genialen Klaviers. Der letzte Satz klingt besonders schön und echt bezaubernd. Der intime und perfekt entsprechende Dialog zwischen den beiden Virtuosen ist wahrlich ergreifend. Einfach wundervoll!

The clarinet is not suitable for these pieces at all. The melodies are not perceived as noble with clarinet.

Who said so, Brahms? Clarinet can be “ noble” or not, depending on a performer. It’s not an easy instrument to play.

@@johannesindusleri5745 that’s just not true. They were arranged (by Brahms) for viola after Brahms played both sonatas with Muhlfield at the request of Joachim and Brahms’ publisher Simrock. The evidence is all there.
