I learned the importance of using the spring clamp on the sled while positioning the workpieces against the fence for cutting dovetails. It's also very important to tap the workpieces down lightly with a mallet to make sure they are seated down firmly onto the table. Any tiny variance in the height of the workpieces will affect the fit upon assembly.

Thank you for posting this. My fence is coming today (I ordered "The Works" 2 months ago and have everything except the fence I've been waiting a while for). The videos they have on KZbin are very old and really don't talk about set-up, and the user reviews/unboxing videos aren't super helpful so this is great. Plus it's going to be great to have this available so I can watch on my phone in the woodshop instead of having to go somewhere and put a DVD in.

Don Cook I know right. Incra should update their videos from 2005. They are not HD and who uses DVD anymore. I was in the same position before I got mine so thought I’d get this online to help others.

@@MarkAllan This video in the box of goodies, I took an old laptop to the shop and watch it on it , I have had my Incra toys since March 2019 and have had a blast making sawdust and a few wine and other boxes . Dovetails boxes are on the agenda this week so I hope it is a easy as it appears . Good luck !

I was thinking about getting this piece of precision engineering for my router table but the price was massive for me.. After watching this I think I will be getting it in the near future. I am still waiting to set my workshop up so I need time to get this but I will be buying this smashing looking piece of kit so yes thanks to this brilliantly made video I will be investing in the piece of kit from INCRA in the near future..

I have a suggestion for many who are short of funds for fine equipment like this, choose a few crafty pieces of knick knacks or furniture pieces that you can reproduce and sell them using the money only for a specified piece of equipment. or and don't be offended, take a part time job at a wendy's or someplace for a few weekends or evenings, just enough to set aside the money again for fine equipment. a few hundred here or there is easy to come up with if you are able to give a few hours a week to some salable items or a part time job. Christmas is coming and cutting boards often sell easy. just some suggestions,.

Been using INCRA ultra for 29 years then decided to upgrade to LS positioner, a few surprises, the hairline curser is not right, it’s like somebody dribbled the paint on, it’s not a perfectly straight line, making all but one of the slots useless. Another surprise was pulling out the template strips get stuck, if you don’t have a nice fingernail to lift the strip over the steel plate, you can easily damage the strip! That can be easily filed down but the hairline curser may should exchange, still gets 5 stars from me!

These are very good set of instructions. Why was 2 3/4 width used instead of 2 5/8 which is a multiple of 7/8 for DOVJ.

Hi, is the center router plate lower than the table? I see a small gap between the plate and the fence. I just assembled my combo #3 "the works" It doesn't say anywhere if the fence glides along the table or if it should be raised a hair above the table. Thanks

Would like to see a video with longer pieces (drawer components) used so we can get some tips on handling larger pieces. This jig is better than the traditional router dovetail jig ... and can be used for more than making small art boxes....

How are you allowing for the radius left by the cutter when cutting the blind dovetail slots? In traditional dovetail jigs the pins are rounded to fit the radius in the blind dovetail slots.

I love my older Ultra but I must admit, as sophisticated as teh Incr DT Jig is, the right angle fence leaves a lot to be desired, especially for those that only use it periodically. The fence is ok, but the method for securing the stock to the right angle fence is pretty archaic and can easily lead to mistakes with the cut. Does anyone know of a better way to secure the stock vs screw clamps?

Looks like a great video. Unfortunately I don't own nor can I afford this system. That said I bought an older version at an estate sale, a Incra Jig Pro, Mighty Mike and 28 inch fence. Are these 2 different systems similar other than minor differences and lengths?
@jtb42 жыл бұрын
Would there be an issue with using INCRA LS through dovetails on 1/2 or 5/8ths Baltic Birch plywood since the thickness is a little less than 0.5 and 0.75? I plan on making drawer sides + fronts for some built in dressers.
@ajm56362 жыл бұрын
I have the incra and precise thickness is only needed for through dovetails (and even then the thickness needs to match the depth of cut not an exact 1/2 or 3/4)

Any idea why you can't raise the cutter instead of thickness planing your stock? @ 48:48
@PhillipsTravels5 жыл бұрын
The angles will be wrong and you'd have a gapped joint
@johnvanderhoof12485 жыл бұрын
The tightness of the joint is controlled by the height of the cutter. Heighten to tighten; lower to loosen.
@mrxmry32643 жыл бұрын
17:35 thats what i think dovetails should look like - pins and tails about the same size. when the sizes are wildly different, the joint just looks weird.

I love this video. I've had the LS now for few years but am just now wanting some dove tails. The APPROX stock witdh is listed on the templates. So if the recommended stock is 1/2 and I want to use 5/8ths will that work out ok? Or will I ruin the ends of my boards? Of course I could set it all up and experiment, but figured I'd toss it out there for some free quick advice. Thanks Incra.
@garageuniversity3 жыл бұрын
If your stock is thicker than the recommendation your half blinds will be just fine but the dovetails won't look as nice or symmetrical. Minutes ago I just finished some half blinds using 1/2" stock instead of the recommended 3/8. They're fine-ish.

I have the old t s. System. But it works the same way as the new l.s. system. I bought the DVD. I wish I saw this first. I wasted money. My dissapointment is, this does not go through the fine tune adjustments needed to get the results. This is more of an promotion video, on how neat this is.

Hi Mark, I would also like to thank you for this Video. I was looking for quite some time after this INCRA-DVD. I think this is the last bit I needed to order an LS-Positioner for myself...! A shame that INCRA (as a company) is so lazy with advertising their Positioners. I know, there are some Clips out there, but I am sure they would sell much more when they spend more attention to get customers attracted by some good & up-to-date-Video´s. So thanks for sharing this one with us! Best greetings from Germany. Michael
@DonDeTango4 жыл бұрын
