IDW Interpolation Generates an Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation of a point vector layer. Sample points are weighted during interpolation such that the influence of one point relative to another declines with distance from the unknown point you want to create. The IDW interpolation method also has some disadvantages: the quality of the interpolation result can decrease, if the distribution of sample data points is uneven. Furthermore, maximum and minimum values in the interpolated surface can only occur at sample data points. source: docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/processing_algs/qgis/interpolation.html#qgisidwinterpolation if you want to make it with QGIS ...

Sir one question. If we can enhance the spatial resolution upto 10m then why not upto 1m . Is there any problem or any limit ?
@hamzacheniti69434 жыл бұрын
Yes you can; but you have to do a topographic survey of the land to get 1m resolution

This process seems to be too lengthy. There is a shortcut to do this even in arcgis. Go to data management--> Raster --> Raster preprocessing --> Resample. This is a one way straight process, which yields same results as the process explained in this tutorial.
@GeoSpatialTutorials8 жыл бұрын
You are right to some extent. However resampling and interpolation are different. I am using spatial interpolation technique. In resampling method you do not have an option for Spatial Interpolation (You can go through online material to understand difference between interpolation and resampling) As we are talking about DEM, interpolation will give result of higher accuracy than all 4 resampling techniques listed. However resampling is also useful in certain cases, I will do a tutorial using that as well in near future.

I am also confused between resampling and interpolation since the end result is same ( i.e. to increase or decrease dimension of dem in both the method) It would be great if there is a video abt this two.

How to calculate total relief of sub watersheds

sir I am thinking of delnieating a watershed in arc gis and my guide is suggesting me to validate the elevation manually by surveying on site. is there any easy way to reduce the effort. Ilikeyour videos I am new to this field but have intrest in this field. one more thing if I delineate a watershed using different dem like once from bhuvan, then from srtm and then from aster can I use that forvalidation
@GeoSpatialTutorials8 жыл бұрын
I would not suggest that. With personal experience, what I can say is that for Indian region, Bhuvan (CARTO DEM) is the best. Manual survey for each point and then creating DEM is a big and time consuming process. Also accuracy cant be better than DEM unless you use, something like DGPS or Total Station. So for this purpose, I suggest you to use Bhutan DEM and carryout your work
@shubhamsaxena898 жыл бұрын
some other way to validate I would likely to work towards flood inundation mapping as an m.tech scholar using HEC RAS. I will first analyse it and then survey for only flood prone area only likely using DGPS.
@GeoSpatialTutorials8 жыл бұрын
You can use CARTO DEM for HEC RAS. There are a few methods for validating, you will find them in detail online. However as far as catosat is concerned, you need not do validation, as in their documentation, they have claimed certain amount of accuracy, you can consider that.

Also sir if using dem I found elevation as 40 m( suppose) and by survey I found that the actual elevation is 25 m so can I change the elevation value
@GeoSpatialTutorials8 жыл бұрын
Ya you can. Enter the editing mode for that point feature, select the point for which you found the elevation value, go to attribute table and change the value. But if you are changing one, think of changing values of nearby points as well. else the interpolation can go wrong with one survey value and others being satellite values.

@lalantradeon75994 жыл бұрын
This is not enhancement of Spatial resolution. What you are doing is just making smaller divisions (grids/units) from bigger grid.If you are dividing a bigger cell into 4 parts, say if it had a value of 30m. Each 4 parts will have the same cell value (30m) as the bigger one(30m). This does not enhance the resolution. You got Wrong concept

lol . he is professional . you are talking about resampling technique and he is talking about interpolation to increase the resolution
