From what I gather from mind processing - a brain can hold up to 7 objects in its processing memory. if a string of data is held in chunks it becomes easier to remember and for guitarists to execute licks. that's why instead of focusing on every single note it's more convenient to focus on downbeats

Ben, have you ever used the concept of the rest stroke with Alt Picking? most people use with economy but it really helped my picking.

Strange I have never tried counting while playing lead. and actually just counting to 4 seemed to keep in better time, even though I couldn't hear the individual notes.

So glad you cut your hair. You are an outstanding musician and don’t need long hair to look like a star. You are already a star.

Are you doing this just for practise speed ip or all your solos? I'm doing also when practise scales but my wrist gets tired more quickly.
@BenHigginsOfficial Жыл бұрын
Hi, practising scales is one of the worst things you can do if you're trying to develop speed. If you grab my free xmaxs shed challenge here I'll show you how to break things down properly so that you really start to get things faster 👍 courses.benhigginsofficial.com/castle-higgy-xmas-shred-challenge
@trebleclef4889 Жыл бұрын
@@BenHigginsOfficial Not for speed up. Do I need to do this every time I exercise or play a song? Because hitting the first pick hard seems to tire my wrist. Are you suggesting doing this all the time? Practice,song etc..
@BenHigginsOfficial Жыл бұрын
@@trebleclef4889 Just to practise building speed. But there may be some occasions where you use it to keep up with the tempo

Can anyone tell me the name of the song Yngwie Malmsteen iw playing at the start of the video. I would really appreciate it if someone can tell me.Cheers
@BenHigginsOfficial7 жыл бұрын
It's taken from the video "30 Shredders in One Solo" - it's actually me playing an Yngwie style lick and the audio during the intro is taken from "Jason Becker Style Soloing" kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5zEgIeVaLxjoKc

Hi George, I use Talon T1 picks in Medium but I don't know the thickness, although they're pretty rigid!

What guitar is he playing?
@kibavlood58267 жыл бұрын
Ben one question isn't it supposed to be an UP stroke? Going to sound stupid here but here is my doubt, Going up would require more effort than down, since your going up against gravity and down is something we are all in built when we learn guitar even strumming, so is emphasis should be laid on UP or Down? *double pointer fingers* Take care dude.
@BenHigginsOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Hi man, concentrating on the downstroke is something that coincides well with where the 1st beat usually occurs. If you tried to emphasise the upstroke, then you'd be trying to put the accent on the offbeat. You can focus solely on the upstroke too, but you might find it tough to place the timing accurately.
