Lovely to see you again! I had to google. As Mark Twain once said “If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.” ... Eating the frog means to just do it, otherwise the frog will eat you meaning that you'll end up procrastinating it the whole day. That’s a new one for me!!

This was a much needed reminder. I am now having to change the way I do everything to incorporate my current and future physical limitations. Time to dig out my timer. I consistently find myself "overdoing it" which puts me out of commission for the rest of the day as well as the next day while I recover. And then nothing on my list gets done. Living the timer life should get me back on track. Always love your videos!

Thanks Laura for the reminders and explanations for each task. SUMMARY (reordered to my logic): 0:37 PREP & Pack as much as possible the night before 4:35 Get up a little EARLIER 6:15 Eat a hearty BREAKFAST 7:13 Stay HYDRATED throughout the day 9:58 Set a TIMER for each task and break 2:00 Don't procrastinate: Work on your most dreaded task first 7:29 Take regular BREAKS 8:43 ALTERNATE tasks (hard vs easy, sitting vs standing) 9:19 Get up & get MOVING on a regular basis 10:57 At the end of each task, put things back where they belong 9:40 Get OUTSIDE for fresh air 12:09 Schedule SELF CARE

The other bonus with timers is that kids respond well if they know how long you are spending on a task

I get up half an hour before I need to ( 5.30) just to sit at the kitchen table with a cuppa, watching the birds on the feeder, puts me in a better frame of mind ready for a 7am start. Breakfast happens around 9ish at work. X

It really makes such a difference to have that extra time, doesn't it? So much better than starting the day off scrambling and racing.

Good to see you back! Timers are my no 1 tip too and swapping between mental/physical tasks. Being chronically ill I have to set timers to force myself to rest (and not get carried away with a project and make myself very ill) but it's also made me much more productive as even with a lot of rest breaks, I get much more done as I am focussed for those 15/30 minutes and not messing about checking my phone or getting a cuppa and procrastinating. Eating the frog is one thing I really need to implement though, I put off the worst jobs for days until the very last minute and it causes anxiety for the whole time, I could avoid a lot of stress and brain power if I just did them first!

I love that these are realistic and doable tips. I need this. My favorite tip was to "eat a frog" at the beginning of the morning. I hate doing this, so I usually avoid it. However, you are right. Getting that done makes the rest of the day smoother, and the task gets done better. I have scheduled a frog for the next week of mornings.

Yet another 12:49 of why I adore you so much! Those are exactly the things I need to do to be productive (well, except getting up early- I work 11pm-7am LOL). It helps so much to hear them again, from YOU, with your usual cheery good humor! It really helps me refocus, and prompts me to go back and review what I'm currently doing, as I tend to slide off of plan A LOT. I'm so glad I saw this one today! Thanks- I appreciate you!

I was raised 4th generation in my great grandma & grandpas house. Each family simply handing the keys over with everything in the home as well. (Each went to nursing homes) So, to say our farmhouse was packed to the brim is an understatement!!! I'm 49 and in a far smaller home and I inherited my 90 yr old grandmas household items(along with her for 1 yrs so it ALL came with her at her insistance!) That's been 5 yrs now. Some of the things I've already sold or culled I regret so culling more of her stuff plus looking at the floor and wall spare you have around you is amazing to me! HOW to I cut more stuff! Mom always filled any empty space. Something got moved and she immediately was like "Now what can I put there!" I lust for empty spaces but I also feel panic rise up...because I'm so congested with stuff if a space empties out i think Oh well now i can put such n such there and IT wont be piled up.

you know what? your expression and the way you use vocabulary is amazing! and even though it could seem for some pretentious, even lunatic-like (excuse me), but i know you are just so strongly engaged and you truly want your viewers to do well. for me as a person who learns a foreign language (English) these videos are an encyclopedia of how to express yourself to the finest extend. i am very happy for discovering this channel, not only full of useful ideas, but also such one where thoughts are presented in a motivating and extraordinary way. wishing you this source of energy never stops pumping up good vibes. thank you :) !

Interesting idea about picking the kids' outfits a week ahead. Mine are adults at this point, but that would never have worked with at least one of my two; there would have been discontent with the selection, and arguments, and her trying out things on her own! LOL As far as 'the hardest task first,' my energy in the morning is at a very low ebb; I'm a night owl, so I tend to wake up and get more done in the afternoon and late evening hours. ;-) Things I do in the early part of the day tend to be boring, mindless tasks that can be done on autopilot, and don't require any kind of concentration--such as laundry. ;-) Now that I'm retired, I have no need or desire to get up earlier than 10:00!! ;-) So I don't. ;-)

I've started getting up earlier so that I can do Morning Pages... But still having trouble getting to bed earlier. I even have a bedtime alarm set, but have found myself just turning it off... I think I need to set a second alarm for 20 minutes later, too. I don't think the shorter nights during the week offset by a 3 hour Sunday nap are really that good for me long term.

Free pass for me! my baby boy is ridiculous I'm pretty sure I got about 3 hours combined broken apart sleep throughout the night. 💤💤💤💤😭 Something going on about 2 years of that. He is still nursing and I can't get them back to sleep any other way usually so that's happening all night long. And he is in no way ready to stop doing that. At least not at night during the day I can get away from it.

Hi Laura, I can't find your digital declutter, so I will leave it here. You got me thinking how I do things. With my recipes, I would copy the recipe and send the webpage link to my Yahoo recipe file. Then I would paste and save the recipe to my computer. Then I would print off the recipe to try it. I did this because my computer died once. I have so very many recipes to copy! And about 500 emails in my inbox. Much of that is political; I am getting off some of them. After your digital declutter video, I changed this. I print off the recipe, and write "not copied." I would send the link to my yahoo recipes file. If we like the recipe, I cross of "not" and copy it. Or not. I can't thank you enough for helping me to devise new ways of looking and organizing digital stuff. I miss your daily emails, although I declutter daily. I just found my needlepoint, macrame and crochet patterns from the 70's! Time to say goodbye.

I've heard a number of people recommending intermittent fasting rather than eating a big breakfast.
@HowToGYST5 жыл бұрын
As far as I'm concerned, my body's done enough fasting overnight. By the time I have breakfast it's usually been over 12 hours since I last ate anything. Breakfast means to 'break the fast'. 🙂

I don't eat after dinner between 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. so breakfast at 7 a.m. or later is at least 12 hours of fasting. Kathy B.
