Can also save some battery consumption on the mobile devices, when they don't have to wait for the occasional burst of data to come through. Also a great result from such a small out of the way extender with that RE220. It can often be easy to end up with bulky solutions, something one defintely don't want when camping.

Well with this video you have created another question that you did not address. That is, what if your campsite signal was so weak that it would be weak even though you have the extender. So your extender would extend a weak signal to your laptop. In this case the extender would not help that much because weak is weak. You CAN'T strengthen your campsite's router signal because it only have so much range. Please explain.

Two things: the extender is DESIGNED to extend signals. I believe I mentioned in the video, but certainly the companion article, that because of that design it has a better antenna and can receive weak signals that laptops and other devices with small internal antennas might not be able to. The signal that it transmits is then also full strength, and closer to the devices I'm using, so they see a strong signal from the extender.

Glad to hear this worked and I'm ready to try it also. But, by extending the wifi for myself am I also inadvertently assisting my camping neighbors or is the signal dedicated to me only?

Password protect you Wi-Fi connection and only those with the password can use it.

@@askleonotenboom Sorry if I was not clear. I'm using the Campground internet Wifi and THEIR password. What password of my own would I have? On the WIFI range extender itself?

@@ron045 Ah, yes that does make a difference. In most cases yes, the range extender is available to all nearby. However some allow you to treat the extension as a new hotspot with it's own password. You'll need to check the docs for the specific device you have.
