Negril is scheduled to get 4 highways and it will take about an hour and a half to drive from Kingston to Portland when the highway is completed from St. Thomas to Portland. @kuyahkudey32175 ай бұрын
@august906 My husband and I have had a great experience with the Jamaican hospital and the doctors and I love the low cost of healthcare! The roads need fixing and the government has a 40 billion dollar budget to fix the roads. Some areas have better roads than others. Plus we are getting highways to all sides of the country. For example, Negril is scheduled to get 4 highways in the next few years. I moved to the countryside and I am getting used to the bumpy roads. I love the beauty and the friendliness of the country people. Today a neighbor who is a farmer gave us a watermelon. Last week a taxi driver I met recently gave me a bag full of mangoes and 2 watermelons. I am really enjoying life here. Most Jamaicans who are moving back are moving from the UK.

Of late, to see Jamaica's cost of living as an advantage, one has to be in an income bracket exceeding that of US $500,000- US $1,000,000. The average Jamaican *cannot* afford the cost of housing in Jamaica 🇯🇲, if they even qualify for a mortgage, they will spend most of their lives paying off mortgage, and will struggle to afford other costs.
@LifewiddiJamFams3 ай бұрын
Your point is noted and appreciated! There is also the concept that it is purely down to financial management and lifestyle people want to curate. Cost of living is drastically increasing all over the world. There are many Jamaican's who buy and build, or buy in developments where they can further develop. We have done some videos about cost of living that you could have a look at if you so desire. 💯🎶🎉
@Rockjamify3 ай бұрын
@LifewiddiJamFams Fortunately, I am not urgently needing residence in Jamaica. However, from a construction rate recently obtained, the cost of building a certain square footage house is far cheaper than those advertised. I think the cost advantage Jamaica may enjoy is in the maintenance cost for what is considered a luxury community. In the U.S., such monthly fees can be the same as the monthly mortgage, making the cost of a home in those communities twice as much. It won't be long before Jamaicans find that out, and upwardly adjust their maintenance fee. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't know a good, honest contractor to 'build on own land' for them.
@LifewiddiJamFams3 ай бұрын
@Rockjamify As long as it is a reputable builder then all should be well. Many Jamaicans, in the locality and Repats, do not live in gated communities. They live in housing estates, suburbs etc. There really isn't that many gated communities across the length and breath of Jamaica. It means that people coming back don't need to consider additional cost outside of land tax and there own property maintenance. 👍🏾💯💎
