How about this topic: A carbon bubble crash is a potential economic downturn that could occur if the value of fossil fuel investments suddenly loses value and the industry's assets become stranded. This could happen if governments impose a limit on the total carbon budget, which could cause a "sudden stop" in the fossil fuel industry. Potential consequences of a carbon bubble crash Investors Investors with a high exposure to fossil fuels could lose billions of dollars. In his column, he gives examples of price gouging: “Texas prohibits many businesses from ‘demanding an exorbitant or excessive price’ on things including food and fuel during disasters,” “voters hate it when businesses take advantage of shortages to charge very high prices,” and “some of us still remember the California energy crisis circa 2001, when power producers reduced supply to drive up electricity prices.” Krugman is implying that a crisis constitutes an exception - it’s not a price control if it is implemented in response to a crisis.

David - think of the wealth tax this way. The bulk of the average person’s wealth is tied up in their home. They in effect pay an unrealized “wealth” tax through payment of property taxes. This is easy for the tax authorities because the assets can easily be tracked. So let’s say their are 6000 people with 100 million in wealth or greater. The solution is simple in terms of enforcement of a wealth tax, assign (3) tax agents to each of those people so as to avoid collusion

I disagree with her remarks and have no interest in learning more about her work. We need reduced government control, and I don't support Harris, as I feel she lacks independent leadership.

More regulation, bigger government, that worked out great for say Argentina. Love your show David

I'm a bit of a liberal in theory and yet she comes off as a head-in-the-clouds wonk who is spinning everything David Lin has had many mors conservative guests than liberal ones, so in that sense it's good, but she doesn't represent anything well, here

So if I heard her correctly, she works on Biden's team either directly or indirectly. Knowing her background, It seems that David invited her to give her extremely biased opinion slanted towards Harris' favor. That said, Elizabeth has done a great job of framing the Harris policy intentions which until now has been very poorly explained by Harris herself. David just did Harris a huge favor.

I can't listen to someone involved in blaming walmart for high prices. It was trillions in sensless money printing. To say it was anything else is evasive and deflective.

Fossil fuels are not as scarce and rare as people make it. We have been using fossil fuels for how long now.? Exactly why haven’t we run out yet if they’re so finite.

So the solution to the big government policies that caused all this wealth inequality is BIGGER government policies? Makes sense to me!
@HyperspaceHolidayАй бұрын
"it only affects people with $100 million or more...." --- No, it affecta everyone who owns shares in the companies that will need to be liquidated in order for thesd rich people to pay their unrealized capital gains tax bill. And, with the right amount of inflation, all Americans will be worth over $100 million.

I couldn't listen to more than a few minutes; I was getting nauseous. "Penalties for high prices doesn't equal price controls, and it's okay because it's just an incremental increase in the role of the federal government that States can do already." My eyes are in serious pain from rolling so far to the back of my head. How many times does economic and political history have to repeat itself before the masses understand that big government is a very very very bad thing? The consequences of following a well-intended, government loving ignoramus are the exact same as following an evil tyrant Marxist. This is insanity to consider these policies. It's 2024, we have books!

stimulus checks being $1200 biweekly I really disagreed with. It was too high imo, but it was informative to know that they didn't know we would have vaccines so fast. And how that was a factor in erring on being too high than too low

Idealogue. If she were a scientist and was producing studies, the hypothesis tested would always end up being supported by the research. Doesn’t matter what’s true, all that matters is that you are right. Scary stuff.
