You guys never get tired of catching the same exact fish every outing. I do haven't targeted stripers in weeks

I was just watching the video when the news came on and said an 18 year old just shot up a Texas grammer school killing 14 students and 1 teacher. Good to see the young man out fishing with you. We have got to get more youth involved in the outdoors. Great video Mike!

Beard guy is that a lefty or righty reel you're using ... It's confusing to me
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
They are almost all lefty reels for jigging. Jigging vertical all day is much easier for a righty to use your right arm. Everyone that steps on the boat says “I don’t think I can use a lefty” so I offer both. So far everyone has preferred the lefty. 👍. Good catch.
@scottyd89002 жыл бұрын
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS so cranking with your left hand holding it with right is a righty reel ??
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
Cranking on the left with a conventional reel is technically a lefty reel.

What color spoon is the best?
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Жыл бұрын
I need at least 2 colors. One bright and one natural. Bright for stained water and low light conditions. Natural colors for clear water and brighter days. 2 I would use are Chartreuse or yellow and silver or copper. If I could only pick one I’d go with Copper. 👍👍

Hi Mike, i am a new subscriber and i need your help. I recently purchased an Airmar(Navico) TM 275 LWH transducer and i have 2 9" Simrad Evo3 . I noticed on one of your videos that you had the same transducer on your Simrad Evo3. I used it for the first time last weekend and the arches were nothing like the ones on your screen, real small and not arched. My transducer is level and i had it set up just like you recommended in your "Sonar Settings You Should Use" video. In my source box on my unit my evo3 does not have the TM275 LHW listed as a source box option to choose from so i checked the Generic box option 83/200 which was recommended by Simrad since my transducer was not an option to check. I noticed in the top middle of your screen on the Sonar Setting To Use video you have the same transducer, i'm assuming you manually typed in the source name? I was running it on High Chirp with the only options of 800HZ and 454HZ , average water depth was 20-30'. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Mike,
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
That transducer is an X DUCER So it will select automatically. It’s actually not possible to manually select it. If it doesn’t select it there is a connection problem. 455 and 800 are side scan frequencies so that won’t help. Sounds like you’re plugged into port 2 on the back. Move it to port 1 with power off. If you still don’t see the name in the box do a software update. You should update every year or so anyway. 👍

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Thank you for your fast response. My transducer is the Navico XSONIC TM275LH-W TM CHIRP Transducer Wide Angle [000-13770-001] and it comes with 2 plugs on the cable, one for high chirp then about 18" from the end of the cable it has another cable about 18" long for low chirp . which take up both ports. I'll switch them to see if that works. Update is a good idea, i will do that tomorrow. Thank You Mike.

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Hi Mike, wanted to give you an update. I installed the most recent update for the evo3, which was my first update since purchasing the units 1.5 years ago. I also got Simrad on the phone and everything is perfect, 1 unit reads high chirp and the other unit now reads low chirp as it's supposed to by using both sonar ports , one with the high chirp cable and the other with the low chirp cable. Now i can get the best of both worlds by being able to see two different chirps at the same time. Temperature when i first turned the machine on right before the update still said 41 degrees even though i wasn't on the water, then after the update it read 70 degrees, where it should be. Thank you for taking the time to give your advice, it really helped out. Thanks again...
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
👍👍. Great!! Bad temp and wrong frequency listed is a sign that it didn’t know what transducer was connected.

Hunters don't just stop in a wide open field and start shooting and fisherman shouldn't have lines in the water if they r not marking fish. Wait until u see the deer and then fire!
