I just ordered one, because of you! I share your sentiment for this thing. It's been days and days, late nights, researching all the different GS models, I was getting overwhelmed.. all my boxes weren't being ticked. BUT ALAS... THERE SHE WAS. Not to big, not too small, some angles in the lugs, domed crystal, simple yet elegant sun burst dial, and special history. I was squeeling with excitement watching your video .. 💦⌚💘 Thanks again. The accuracy @06:53 thts why GS watches expensive. Its defeat most of the automatic mechanical watches brand on accuracy. Worth every bucks.

Definitely the pride and joy GEM of my collection. I could be a 1 watch man with this beauty. But I'm still shopping for a new GS. Note: In the video, I could not bring out how nice it is the 57GS. Hard to film it...wish I did better.

I love any vintage GS content. This 'chronometer ' issue is confusing. I've got two King Seiko Chronometers which are both 70s watches, ie. later than your GS.

Yes it is confusing. The first watches to get the change was the 57gs then Seikomatic chrono became the 62GS instead and the King seiko 44KS chrono became the legendary 44gs! Now why do later models have it? I believe a Japanese institute was started up for chronometers as the name was no longer protected in Japan. But I'm NOTE sure. And GS already had this new stricter standard and new branding direction they weren't going to go back.

You had a service and the didn’t change the gaskets on the crown on an old watch? That’s the first thing I think about on a vintage watch. You are right, doing it yourself is incredibly hard. There was a time I could do it, but gave all my work to my watchmaker who has better tools and better ability.

Yes they say the crown is unchangeable and a sealed swiss type. Which they are not wrong. It was designed to be swapped out for a new one during service. That's why so many 43GS have the wrong crown. When they went into service the 9991 crown was being produced and the coarse one was dwindling in availability.

That's how it is. Seiko never made a 9991 dial. Quirky mid model refreshes

Any idea if that Tuns band would work with a Seiko deployment clasp, meaning are the pin holes small enough that they will fit properly?

Yes I have seiko deployants on my other tuns straps. 20mm taper to 18mm. As long as the size is the same as the clasp it will work.
