Incredible 900 Gallon Tank Recovery!!

Hey Vic & Josh, we have no name yet for that Australian Seriatopora. We think it might be a Seriatopora aculeata. This is the closest resemblance to any that we have looked at. We are open to any suggestions so leave comments here and we will consider them.

With a lot of luck, effort, and patience! They do not typically do well in captivity and do not ship well. We babied these guys for months in quarantine. It is hard to get them to start eating, but once they do, you have to feed multiple times a day. Definitely not an easy fish unfortunately!!!

Yes but I think conductivity meter is more accurate than tds .I could be wrong but from doing some reading it's measured differently and more accuratelyseams like tds meter converts conductivity into tds

How are you guys using conductivity to test for water quality? Do you just have an understood baseline conductivity measurement and check for variance? I assume higher conductivity means more of the bad tds in the water.

That is the issue with them, they usually refuse any foods offered. Best to start off with live food(live brine) and slowly mix in mysis shrimp to trick them. Then ween them off to only mysis, but feeding 3+ times a day. You have to start off with a good batch to begin with, which you may not always be lucky doing.

@@WorldWideCorals, yeah...i went through 2 copperbands before I got my 3rd one which is eating and doing great. Always ensuring that some of these picky guys eat before you leave the store is key.

Great video guys ..how are you testing the conductivity of the r/o water any links to the meter you guys are using ..here in NY during summer time we struggle with our water.many of us belive they add something to our drinking water in the warmer months that our r/o units are not taking out .

What is the substrate makeup/thickness in these tanks? Any wrasses?

It's a mixture of caribsea reef sand and crushed coral in this tank in particular. It's about 1/2" thick

I think I see you guys have some red slime algae in the 500G at 13:05. I’m running into the same problem with the same type of algae in my 130G tank. How do you combat that?

This is actually a hard plating variety of what seems like coralline of a different color

Bahaha conductivity is how TDS is measure guys, who told you they are different things.... TDS is just one of 4 random numbers certain companies use to multiply by the conductivity (EC) to make it into a larger number (cause americans struggle with the metric system). So 0 TDS is exactly the same as 0 conductivity.

Forgive me if I come across ignorant or argumentative, that is not my objective. However the hobbyist grade TDS meters are not precise enough, and for the purpose of the video and we did not go into depth. Our unit of measurement is resistivity below 1 Mega ohm and beyond that we are able to have an actual digital reading to monitor gains or losses and each stage of production(which is actually the important part)That is also not to mention the methods of utilization regarding carbon flow rate and bed depth, membrane efficacy, and multiple di staging. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that utilize high volume and high quality water systems out there that can speak the language better however there were no professional answers(given our specific scenario) out there when we needed them so we we went through the growing pains on our own.
