It looks like you may be getting confused with Peniche and Ferrel. Baleal is in the REGION of Peniche. Baleal is much closer to Ferrel than to Peniche. Baleal is 7 km East of Peniche, and Peniche has its own beaches. There are a few supermarkets right in Baleal, 1 km from the island, just off Avenida da Praia where you can shop. Ferrel has more shopping, and it is only 3.5 km from Baleal.

It's only about 4.3 KM from Baleal to Peniche, (near Praia da Cova da Alfarroba) if you take Avenida da Praia. Peniche does have all the full-size grocery stores, Lidl, Intermarche (the closest to Baleal, is only 4.9 KM), Continente & Pingo Doce. I will say though you stay on Baleal, you can get taxis to and from Peniche (or rent a scooter). Ferrel doesn't have the shopping selection that Peniche has, but there are shops there. Ferrel is much closer, and if you don't mind walking, it is closer!

No, Ed is correct, this video is about Ilha Baleal. Peniche is just under 5 KM down Avenida da Praia, from Baleal island. The Peniche region includes, towns and villages such as São Bernardino, Consolação, Peniche, Atouguia da Baleia, Baleal & Ferrel.
