I only realized recently that my mother batons with her knives, she does it with her kitchen knives and an old rolling pin to chop apart things like frozen chickens and big squashes, she's elderly and doesn't have the arm strength to do this how she used to. Luckily she's got an Old Hickory chefs knife otherwise I don't think her knife would survive the beating.
