At $46,000 plus (!) this thing better flippin' make my breakfast, wash my clothes, robot vacuum, straighten up and clean all my gear, and put me to bed happy.

The concept of the flip open box has been around for a long time. French manufacturer Esterel made several models like this for a long time. Were not electrically operated, though, but used gas springs to help raise the roof. Some were sold in the US in the eighties

That's new to me, but no real surprise. Such a simple concept. I wonder why you don't see more off-road mini-campers using this idea. I haven't seen any. Overkill Campers makes makes mini-campers with a slide-out bed that is very cool. Everybody thinks they'll make their design special, with the layout and how cleverly they built everything in there for your convenience. It just makes them more expensive and harder to repair, when the person looking for something with this low-profile design can't afford all the bells and whistles.

That 1st pop up is twice the price it should be, they sure are proud of their little camper

I think the folding box idea is superb! Low-profile while traveling and can stand up in it in camp. I'm having a lot of fun with my off-road mini-camper, but everything else the same, only with the folding body would have a smaller cross-section while towing, and more room when camping. But I got my bed on wheels, and I towed it from southern Arizona back up to Idaho. That showed me I can pull it on backroads, offroads, and interstate, with no problems. But I bet I'd get better gas mileage with the trailer in this video. And I'd be able to stand up inside. smh Their price point is ridiculous. They've got good engineers, but nobody up in the penthouse with any sense. Some bean counter who sees more profit per unit sold as his Holy Grail, when he could've made the company a lot more money by making quality and lowest price point the two main priorities, by selling millions of units, rather than the scant few thousand they're likely to actually sell.

I like first camper that the size of a small utility trailer but transforms into a tall camper. This would fit in my garage and I wouldn't have to upgrade to a bigger truck to pull my camping trailer i already own. Price is alittle high

There IS nothing New with the first camper. It's a 50 years old design sold by thousands in France, made by Esterel (1965/1985). I still have one of them, a C 39 which WE use every Summertime.

Hi you did a live stream on trailers and campers, During the Stream you mentioned the Shasta company and some of the trailers that they made, But I only seen during your stream the small trailers that everybody knows of. I would like to know if you have any information on the Shasta freedom 23, Which I am currently living in. I have looked all over and can find no information on the 23ft trailer anywhere. And no one seems to know anything about it, And are telling me that Shasta doesn't make a 23 foot trailer. But yet I'm living in one. I hope you will be able to shine some light on this subject for me thank you in advance. 🤔

While the Earth Traveler is nice ; that price is way to high ! You better off with a regular Teardrop camper ! At least you get a kitchen area in the back where you can cook ! For the price of the Earth Traveler you should get everything a regular Teardrop offers and Wifi and TV and Solar power system and Radio and Mini Fridge !!

If you took out all the plumbing and other built-ins, you'd have room for some gear and grub. But as someone who's been tent-camping out of pickups for decades, cargo room has never really been an issue. Now I'm getting a little too old to enjoy tent setup and breakdown. For 30 years, it was just one of the fun activities. Then it became a chore. The point is that there's a definite niche for the most stripped-down and efficient bed on wheels possible.
