INCREDIBLE DAY in TAM COC, VIETNAM - MUST SEE PLACES IN NINH BINH
Welcome to another video in our Vietnam series! We spend an incredible day exploring Tam Coc, Vietnam! We want to show you all of the MUST SEE places in the Ninh Binh region.
Tam Coc is only 2 hours from Hanoi so you can easily come here on a day trip. However, we highly suggest staying at least 2 nights to take advantage of everything there is to do in the area. It is such a beautiful area that you will want to start exploring as soon as you arrive! You can see why it’s called Ha long bay on land with the limestone peaks that are set around beautiful wetlands and ancient temples!
Most of the home-stays in Tam Coc have bicycles and motorbikes available to rent. We explored the area on bicycles and were able to roam around the back roads and soak in the beautiful landscape and views of daily life in rural Vietnam.
We rode our bikes through the town of Tam Coc which offers many guesthouses, hostels, shops, and restaurants. The town is wrapped around a lake that holds hundreds of boats for the day trippers who arrive here on tour buses. It’s one of the most popular boat tours but not the one we recommend.
We decided to head to our first big attraction for the day, the nearby pagoda, Bich Dong. It was a fun and easy bike ride since it was only 10 kilometers away. Take your time and enjoy the ride because the scenery is breathtaking!
There are around 100 steps to reach the top of the mountain and this is where Bich Dong Pagoda can be found. The trail leading up to the pagoda has beautiful views of lotus plants, limestone karst, and lush green trees. At the top of the stairs you can see breathtaking views of the valley, mountain peaks, and rice fields. We really enjoyed taking this small hike through all of beautiful ancient architecture. Don't miss this stop when you're in the area!

Ninh Binh is the ancestral land of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang (10th century).

I love taking my bike and ride it on the little side roads, there's nothing like that to truly enjoy the nature and the local culture, but this one is next level! Wow! Only 2 hours from Hanoi and you feel like you are in a different universe. Truly amazing! 😊

I loved the bike ride through the area as that's exactly something I'd do to be able to slowly take in the beauty of the area. Ancient temples and ruins are my jam, coupled with settings surrounded by green limestone mountains...LOVE!!! I love that they have goats roaming everywhere there, but you totally should have had some as I hear it's really good in that area.

A very nice video! Little correction: you don't need to pronounce "bích" in "Bích Động" like "beach" or anything with an ending "ch" sound, we actually don't have ending sounds in our language. So just go until near the end, before that "ch" sound then... stop, that's it. Something like "big" in English I think is pretty close (but still the "g" sound isn't needed either).

We are going to Vietnam in August and plan to stay a couple of nights in Tam Coc. We are in our 50s and 60s and unfortunately not as fit as you, but do enjoy a walk or bike ride. Do you have to be fit to explore the area? Should we probably go on a private tour instead? We would prefer to explore by ourselves.
