Those staircase concrete details are top tier. The upper echelon of detail. Absolutely insane. Not necessary at all but something that makes the map stand out beyond measure and makes me look forward to other maps by the same creator because I know I can expect a degree above. This guy knows their architecture and isn't afraid to spend time implementing it in intelligent ways. Bravo.

Now THIS is the type of map I wish the pros would give more attention to than yet another remake that's been around for several games. I love remakes and don't mind them getting added to matchmaking, but it's annoying when so many original maps that look & play very well get the smallest fraction of attention in comparison when it comes to ppl in charge of Halo's comp scene. The pro team added a Plaza remake, attempted a Midship remake, The Rig, the upcoming Coliseum remake, and then just recently started testing that new (beautiful) Sanctuary remake. Getting Fortress play-tested is definitely a start in the right direction, lets hope we see more of that in the very near future.

Takes a long, long while to be 100% sure you don't add something into a matchmaking pool that is sub-par. Lots of new issues arise when you add complexities like AI and abilities. You know all those sounds you hear in the maps you play? Sparks coming off what looks like an electrical component but is actually like 12 different blocks and models prefabbed together? Those are typically all placed manually. Takes a lot of time to proof things. It's the same reason people buy store bread and don't bake it themselves. Three ingredients sounds really easy until you get into kneading strategies, hydration, proofing times, types of grains and flours, mix-ins, preservatives, etcetera. Something to think about. But I get you, they should have made it more clear I suppose.
