I was about to click on the link, when you said it is rather pricey .... then I stopped ... but I think, now, I will see if they have any affordable models anyway. EDIT: Oh No Wonder, it's a 25 Watt Class-A and I was hearing it too it's the harmonics, and complete absence of any crossover distortion at lower volumes, but I also love class-a overdrive asymmetry. and that is a *High Wattage* class-A....Huge Power Supply, beefy components, a 25 watt class-a is Expensive by the Nature of the beast . as with anything like that; I want it, but I can't afford it.

SE amps are very inefficient, so high-power SE amps require lots of current, which translates to huge heavy expensive transformers. This amp uses toroidal transformer which are more efficient and so seems to be what keeps the weight down to ~40lbs...but keep the price up! I've built and currently use a 2 channel single ended amp (6V6), from which I use a line out from the speaker signal and then re-amp with a tiny Mooer 30watt Baby Bomb. Works great! It's loud, can be clean or overdrive like a muthaF, and I can put my FX chain after the line-out before the Mooer, which captures the power amp signal hitting the speaker - much better than a conventional FX loop between the preamp and phase-inverter/poweramp, which doesn't capture the full the signal of the power amp/speaker interaction.
@terryenglish7132Күн бұрын
Very cool. I like 6V6s better than 6L6s. With 6V6s the harmonics in the distortion vary depending on the power voltage. What are you running it at ?

Hello Henning , this is in fact the same kinda amp design ( 25W class A single ended ) as the Silktone Parallel that they just released a few months ago ( and is just as expensive btw : ) , both are dream amps for me , for me the classic fender deluxe 5E3 ampdesign is still the best sounding amp for me when set on a clean volume level wich mostly is about 2-3 , but to now have all the headroom in the world and to maintain that sound , jeezz .

Of course it is pretty awesome. Its tube. I still practice strait into mine. No effects. But honestly My first modeler kind of just made my tube amp obsolete. It seems limited in sounds by comparison. I can get the basics; clean, raunchy, sparkle, nasel, and muddy. from my tube amp. Then i need a huge dust collecting pedal board, with too many wires, and it still wont come close to the versatility that the modeler has for recording. I dont want to mic the cab. Im not nostalgic anymore. If i have ideas, i want to hit record and start playing. I take my modeler, headphones, and sometimes one guitar to the studio. My peddles are in a box in the closet.

OMG it's a single KT-150 ... the KT-120 could do 25 watts also, but it's a Kinkless Tetrode, that's the thing, Beam Power class-a that's like my dream amp. @satanbaneКүн бұрын
The "class" refers to how much of the waveform each tube is active for. Only class A or AB really apply to audio; there's also B and C, relevant to other kinds of power systems like maybe motors and whatnot. (And of course "class D" can apply to audio, not really part of the original nomenclature.) In class A, all tubes are active all the time. In class AB, each tube turns off for part of the waveform. You can have more than one tube involved in class A, it's just not done as much because you can also run the same two/four tubes in class AB and get more watts (and more distortion), which traditionally was more desirable for guitar amps. With a single tube, it has to be class A. With multiple tubes, it could be class A or class AB. As for single-ended mode, this inherently has to be class A, again commonly with just one tube, but you can actually parallel together more than one tube in single-ended class A to get more watts. I have seen at least one commercial (boutique) amp which does this, though I forget the brand. (It wouldn't be that hard to mod something like a Marshall amp to put its four 6L6/EL34 type tubes in parallel, running single-ended class A; you'd have to change the output transformer. You'd get less than 100W, but it'd still be pretty loud. Haven't heard of anyone trying this...)
@vincentl.9469Күн бұрын
when you say each tube turns off in a/b amps ..-does that mean it sags slightly - a dip in sound ?
@satanbaneКүн бұрын
@@vincentl.9469 Yes indeed, there is a slight effect on the waveform of the sound at the points where the tubes turn on and off in AB. You could definitely call it a form of "sag", or more commonly, crossover distortion. With a good design, it is minimal but barely measurable with fancy equipment. That's why class A is often considered "cleaner" or lower distortion. The twist in all this is that with guitar amps, class A single-ended amps such as some of the Fender Tweeds may also lack any negative feedback in the power amp. So actually, they end up with rather high distortion figures compared to a solid push-pull class AB design with negative feedback, as used in most later guitar amps. But, some musicians feel that the type of distortion produced by single-ended amplifiers is better-sounding, since it results in asymmetrical waveforms with a higher proportion of even harmonics. (Note that virtually all guitar *preamps* operate in single-ended class A.)
@vincentl.9469Күн бұрын

@satanbane21 сағат бұрын
@@vincentl.9469 Marshalls are class AB.

@@satanbane .. the other thing is that it's not uncommon to have a chip, a MOSFET, in the pre amp. My amp has one. the signal from the guitar goes into that first and its done so as to achieve good overdrive at lower volumes..

3200 euros is far too much. The competition is far too great, I suspect it won't survive. Back in the early nineties, I bought a Reuther stereo transistor amp in Osnabrueck.
